Did this job at the end of the week. It was a lot of fun. We installed two music/PA systems for a local Little League team.

The primary field has a Crown mixer (inputs: wired mic in pressbox, wireless mic, iDevice plug in, AirPort plug in), Crown amp and JBL Control 30 speakers. The secondary field is a Crown mixer and a smaller pair of speakers.

I showed one of the involved fathers how to use Garage Band to edit songs to short clips (5-10 seconds) and how to mix a voice over and then save as an iTunes "song" to provide an intro with a walk up song for the kids at bat.

After he figured out Garage Band, he imported movie quotes, Homer Simpson "doh" noises, etc. to play throughout the game.

We installed an Airport Express to allow him to leave the pressbox and go down to the stands with a wireless mic and his iPad. This allows him to play sound effects through the system via AirPlay, while calling the game and providing color commentary from the stands on the wireless mic.

All in all, this was really cool for us to do. Little League can be boring at times, but imagine how much better it is with music, sound effects, etc.

In the first house, we installed Stealth 2 ways (FX8?) with backboxes. Like I said, sound is only OK. If I had to do over, I would have forced the issue of bookshelf speakers hidden in the bookshelves.

I just installed Stealth into a room yesterday (4xFX8 and 2xB30 subs).  It's new construction (noisy jobsite) so going back today with amplification to test them while all the other trades are gone.

I haven't done any Stealth for a few years now so haven't put any of the new models in yet.  My impression before is similar to yours, but I was hoping the new models might be a bit better.

That's a cool setup!  I think the Airport/Airplay functionality is neat... I don't think I would have been ambitious enough to try something like that.

I've done a bunch of simple outdoor music over the last two weeks.  Three different projects that were all Sonos (3-5 zones) and Ubiquiti Wifi for control using Sonos iPhone/iPad app.

Just some pictures from the phone.

Project #1 - Music for the pool, two outdoor eating areas and gardens

Project #2 - Music by the pool, cabana, bbq & dining area and loggia

Project #3 - Music by the outdoor entertaining & dining area, fire pit and bocce ball court

1. Where are the speakers??

2. The homes in that area are so beautiful. Around here it really doesn't pay to have landscaping because you could only enjoy it 3 months out of the year anyway. I really want to slowly move south for this reason...

I like that backward rackshelf on the wall to support the ZP120s. Much easier that breaking out the plywood and a saw. Do you get enough volume outside from the -120s?

I like the backward rack shelf idea too. Quick and easy in an area that is not openly visible.

SB Smarthomes, I also want to know what speakers were used and where they are? Nice place.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.

I guess you will find out how well they hold up outdoors. These things will be full of dust and grime in about 6 months.

I just did a backward rack shelf today. Great way to manage small parts on a job where a rack isn't needed. I've bought a few of Snap's rack bundles and never seem to use the 4 sp shelves, so I just sell them off this way.

Today I finally started an install of my first full line Crestron project. All lighting and HVAC in a church, 14 zones of lights using CLX 2 dim2 and 1dim4, iPads, b12 keypads, nice little project.

Only bummer was I was toning out existing wiring and there was a lot of static electricity in the building, every time I touched any grounded device I got shocked. I went to tone out a wire, big static spark jumped out and killed my toner wand, really pissed me off.

SB, nice pictures, we don't see many yards like those up this way, a few, but not too many.
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!

The speakers aren't much to look at so I didn't take close-ups.  They're all 6 1/2" black outdoor speakers from Proficient Audio or Episode mounted low in the plants on 2" square steel fence post.

It's really nice here... we seldom have rain and can be outside all year round.  Some winter nights get a little cold, but these homes have outdoor heaters and/or fireplace-firepit setups.

It's nice and easy and more professional looking than sticking stuff on a shelf.  The concrete block was simple to mount on with tapcons.

Speakers a inexpensive 8ohm models from Proficient Audio & Episode.  I'm usually more of a 70v guy for large outdoor systems, but the Sonos is simple and works well if the client wants several outdoor zones.

I've done a few installs like this now and was just back at one thats been in place for over a year with no issues.  Yeah, theres a little dust on the Sonos gear, but not any more than what you get in a mechanical room.
