Paul, I was in your neck of the woods last night and it’s awful. I hope your friends and family are ok and I pray the firefighters can stand their line before the offshore wind switch comes in the next day or two. I have not watched the news today but we have clean air for a change which means there must be a strong on shore pushing to the east. This would be a good thing if the firefighters were able to get any kind of back burn going. With the winds we have had through the canyons I doubt that is the case. Like I said in my email, we’re just down the road from you so if you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask. As for the fires to the north of us, the last time I checked we were still only at 5% containment and the majority of Cal Fire and National Guard as well as so much help from all over the U.S. are focusing their efforts on your area due to the extent of immediate human danger.

WhiteVan, Appreciate you PM yesterday checking in with us. The winds weren't as bad last night as the previous two nights and power outages were much shorter, so condition weren't too bad. Air quality right now is much better at the house too, but the ongoing sound of airplanes and choppers is a constant reminder how close the flames are. For anyone interested here are a few photos... Driving home from a customers house Wednesday afternoon around 4pm. The little spot of orange above the car in front of me is a patch of fire on the mountain. This was really far (10-12 miles) from the fire and the smoke was still terrible: Picture from my front yard looking back over the house:

Sorry to see the fires there again. The wife and I lived in Poway for years, and made it out just before the last big one that hit there. Friends and family lost a lot there in the last few.
Hope it gets better for all you guys out there. Wet t shirts over the nose and mouth work great...

Latest theater in progress. I know they're not great photos, but wanted an excuse to bump this thread. Will post completed theater in a few weeks.

That woodwork looks awesome, but I'm afraid of how it will sound. Any sound treatments going in that room?

CJ I was thinking the same thing. It'll be a little reflective maybe a few panels with matching wood trim could tame the reflections and also blend in cosmetically? ...And I guess if we're going to nit-pick... in looking at the front lower cabinets where the LCR's are going to go, the angle of the L&R speaker opening look like the L&R speakers might have a little too much "toe-in". It almost looks from the picture, like the "apex" or the "sweet spot" for the front left and right speakers would be a little distance before the first row of seating. Don't mean to be a PIA... maybe you've already figured all that out and the perspective of the photo doesn't illustrate that very well.

I, too, am worried about the sound. The original spec was to have acoustic panels in the centers of the panels, but the owner opted for the "library" look and decided he wanted wood raised panels regardless of the impact on the sound quality.
The speakers will not go in the cabinets, but will be 3 Triad InWall Bronze behind an AT screen installed at ear level for the main row of seating (1st riser, row 2 of 3).
Thanks for the input.

...OOOOOooooooohhhhhhhhhhh. O.K. I was just looking at the lower cabinetry with the cutouts. Sorry!
Triads huh? Should sound great. Cool room, and I'm sure due to the size of the room and the fact that it'll be full carpeted -- it'll sound very impressive.
I'm just jealous!

mwstorch, the craftsmanship looks great from the photos, sure sound quality will suffer without acoustical treatment but damn that will look nice. It's rare to see that type of woodworking detail in our area. And the jobsite is super clean, I love the fact that there is a broom in the pic. Other trades should take note.....one of my pet peeves. Just curious...what's that in the background of the door way in pic 1?

In the background of the doorway is a faux painted 50's look diner for the kids to play in. Kind of a kitch-y cinebar.

Under the picture is a round timer for the outside landscape lighting.
