great display of constraint on your part. now where are those pics you've been promising? i want to see the house, and i want to see the genelec install!
if you promise, you must deliver, it's the way of life for the custom installer!
PM me with your mailing adress! I'm burnin' ya a disc!

dude post em up here. if you don't know how, email them to me and i'll fix it up. is this the install with the cable car? i'd like to see that as well! burn a disc? you mean a floppy right :-)
i assume you're not comfy with posting a client's home on the web. i understand, and you can attach the pics and email them to my address on my profile. if you really want to go to the trouble of burning me a disc and mailing it, i'll send you my physical address, but it seems kind of crazy.

C'mon Mr. Stan. Post the pics, we just want to see the system, not the family album.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.
Trimming a little media room. Client decided he didn't want the C-channel in the cabinet, insisted on putting it above the plasma... Almost solid wood behind the sheetrock. after drilling chiseling and taking out the sawzall (3 hours later) I got a Jamo 515 mounted... Whew! It was a bitch. Today I install his 60 inch Elite inside this "window-box" alcove with 1/2 inch clearance on the sides and 1.5 inches total clearance vertically. It's going to be a PIA to install! It's got to be set back about 4 inches from the front of the alcove on a fixed bracket.

I lost my mind today, and just about beat the crap out of a GC who dropped the ball on me. I gave specific instructions several months ago regarding proper studs/backing being put into place behind an entertainment center cabinet (custom built & pricey) so we could mount a TV. I stressed several times that because an articulating mount with a 52" LCD was going in, it had to be done right and proper studs were required to install. I was assured several times the work would be completed, and I was even on site when they started installing the backing (months ago) and figured things were well on their way. Today (TV install day) I find that the backing was nowhere near where it should have been (they measured wrong) - and when pilot holes were drilled - there was nothing behind. The GC actually asked me why I couldn't just bolt the mount to the 1 inch plywood back of the cabinet!
SO - after a song and a dance, and me vehemently refusing to install it as it existed, we came up with a plan and re-enforced it. Mount is up, TV is solid (I hung myself off the mount), and all is kinda back to normal. A new false back to the cabinet was created.
I just hate dealing with this kind of crap. I was called in on the 11th hour of the build, and it's basically turned into a huge retrofit of a new home that isn't even occupied yet! Well, that's my rant for the day! I'll post the pics of the job soon!

Whew! I feel your pain. At this job I was at today... the custom wall cabinet buried all of my boxes! How the heck does that stuff happen? Are cabinet guys just too lazy or are they stupid?
...But, seriously, this couple are amongst the nicest people I have ever worked for. I stopped by Trader Joe's today on the way to the job and picked out an incredible Orchid to give to them just for the hell of it --- Plus I'm a little behind because I spent a couple days off recuperating from getting beat up the other night.... Boy did that get me a lot of "Brownie Points"! I think I'm a new member of their family now! Amazing how far a $25 dollar Orchid and a nice thank-you card can go sometimes!

It is amazing how far the small gestures can go. Always helps.
How are you feeling these days? Hopefully better!
Some cabinet guys are inherently lazy - but the fault in this job lies on the builder. They seem to think that TV's require nothing to mount on, one cable line, and install in seconds!

Yeah, I've done this a few times (nice flowers or plants), and it's always gone over really well. Can really help to get you on the homeowner's side at times.

Thanks, yeah although I am a drama-queen, I am feeling much better, ribs and hip sore and deeply bruised, but feeling great overall and very thankful it wasn't worse.

Went and had a look at a retro that we just started.
It's a big place, 5 floors, and has plenty of control and distribution. Should be a lot of fun.
The upstairs equipment point...
Do we have enough ROTEL??? Each of these power amplifiers is 6-channel, so that gives us 24 zones of distributed audio.
And the downstairs...
Half way through being dismanteled and, yes, that is 2 distributed VCR's in that cabinet on the right!! LOL
As you can see, it's a reasonable system with bits of AMX, Kramer and Dynalite throughout. There is also a third equipment point for a theatre but I didn't get a photo of that one.
The previous owner wanted everything he could fit, and it kinda looks like he got it.
The new owner is pretty much gutting the place for renovations and wants it all updated and made simpler to use.
