Phil,

You can use that roll on bedliner stuff (herculiner or dupicolor) but you have to put it on thick. It has to be done in layers. If the prep work is not done right it will peel off. I did my beach 4runner with this stuff on the whole outside of the truck. We did 2 coats and no problem except on the roof where we were in a hurry to prep and get done. The best way to have it done is with the rhino liner or line-x. it cost more but that stuff is tough as nails. The inside of the same 4runner was done with rhino about 3 years ago and no problems at all. when i get home I will post some pics so you can see the difference.

theater room using 9 stealth acoustics ax3's and 4 of
the subwoofer panels. (i know, not ideal for sound quality,
but it was requested by the home owner). installed these
thursday, and going back monday to finish up mudding drywall
and terminating the rest of the house.

front:left, subwoofer, center, subwoofer, right

side/back wall: surround back left, subwoofer, and then
2 surround lefts

I'm not a fan on only having one step between levels. It's usually not enough to get over the row in front of you.

simoneales... In re looking at that picture... If the homeowner had a nice throw rug, even in front of the speakers to soak up a little of the primary reflections off the floor, that would really help out as well.

...And not to be some nit-picking arse, but I was wondering why the L& R front speakers are upside down??? The mids are a little low, although the tweeter would still be at about the same height... Just another irritatingiy stupid question... 8>/

Mr.Stan, don't forget that i didn't install the original system here, however I'd suggest that the speakers are upside down to keep the plane of left, center, and right as close as possible in height. The 32 XLR's took about 3 hours to fit off including cutting, cable management and labeling. The brand is Amphenol, they are a solderless punch down type that you can only use with certain cables.

Simon.

Ah... yes, that makes sense... Sorry to be one of those irritating idiots that has to pick apart crap like that!

I recall you went over to clean up that system that another company installed. I've seen a lot of your other work- which is always flawless.
Thanks for the reminder!

This thread will either die quickly or continue on for
ages. I'm hoping for the latter.

Well you got your wish Simon, one year today and counting. Congratulations!

Today I went through some names and addresses pulled from building permits in the area, need to get some letters and brochures out.

Went for one last swim at Elbow Beach in Bermuda. That has to be one of the most beautiful beaches/ coastline in the world. 10 year anniversary and my wife and I did it right. 5 days in paradise. Managed to avoid looking at my in-box the whole time. Back to reality tomorrow...............

Sorry guys -but sometimes we have to remember why we do this stuff..........

Went to finish up a little pre-wire (side job), that I started quite a while ago. The place was jammed with other subs, so I blew out of there, and went to the beach, and worked on a layout for an upcoming project.
Later, I made a sheet metal patch for a muffler on my car LOL!!! My kid scraped bottom on a super high speed bump and put a small hole in the center muffer... To replace the muffler, my Mercedes Benz Dealer wants $750.00 not inc. labor... the patch worked beautifully!!! A chunk of sheet metal, a huge glob of high temp RTV Silicone and 3 large clamp things like they use in commercial HVAC systems, with asbestos pads.
I'll be the laughing stock at the auto repair shop if they ever put my car up on a hoist, and see my hillbilly repair job! Hell, if it fails in a while, I'm still ahead of the game!

Actually I might patent it!

I did a small surround sound install Wednesday morning down by the beach. Right when I arrived a baby Heron fell about 40ft out of the top of a palm tree that he was nested in and almost wacked me on the head!

Even as a baby, he was about the size of a small chicken and worst of all have been injured in the fall. He ended up hoping over and parking himself in the narrow entrance to the house which was through a walled courtyard. You couldn't walk past the little guy to get in or out without upsetting him and getting pecked at so I ended up passing all my tools and product (including a 42" plasma) through the garden and over the 3ft courtyard wall.

I got started on the job and the homeowner called animal rescue and then she spent the next 2hrs fending of the neighbors cat that took an interest in the bird. Sad ending is the heron died about 15mins before the animal rescue arrived.

Things have only gotten weirder since then... Wednesday was the start of the fires here in Goleta/Santa Barbara. Work late Wed and all day Thurs was disrupted by power outages and I've got family and lots of friends and customers that have been evacuated from their homes during the last two days.

The 4th of July weekend has been a real bummer this year. Hope everyone affected by fires in Northern CA is staying safe!

Cheers,
Paul
