That's the problem with starting as the senior guy, no
one to teach you the right way to do things you haven't
done before. Every thing i do now comes from years of
trying to find better ways of doing things and learning
from mistakes.

Simon.

A man after my own heart! It is HARD not having a "mentor." It's good to know that one day I may be able to get to that level.

Great work.

Played an online poker tournament took 7th, payout = 24xbuyin - not bad, now I just need to win a bunch more and start putting up a bigger buy-in.

Was it a 10k buy in tournament?

Cory, don't stop playing.... so you can eh... redistribute your wealth :)

Got an invitation to sit in Ceasar Palace on Nov-27, a 4 days tournament. I hope my wife will approve the trip. Ofcourse, she'll be going also....

I went to Tiki Island, a small community about 6.5 miles from Galveston. Met the home owner and builder, had an early dinner/beer (4:30pm) next to his temporary home - a 1.5M Marathon Motor coach; where he and his wife will live in the next 30 months.

All of the sudden, I have three or four projects that want me there today! Gulp.

Tonight, I am going with a couple friends to a brand new $500,000,000 Casino that just opened last week.

beautiful work as always simon. i think if you had started with a mentor, you might not be creating such amazing works of cable management art. maybe the fact that you had to do it on your own meant you ended up holding yourself to a higher standard than you would have been held to by a supervisor?
snap, that looks great. do you get tru audio through distribution or direct?

it's working for me again, i noticed yesterday that all the photobucket pics wouldn't show up for me on RC or myspace, but photos posted from other sites were working. i went to photobucket and the main page came up but none of the links worked. weird.

I started a Phast to Crestron conversion project on monday.

Monday i took the Phast system apart.

Tuesday i installed patch panels & amps in the rack and toned/tested/tagged all cables. Cleaned up all the cables on the back wall of the control room closet. Moved the RG6 & old Multiswitch from the adjacent closet into the control room. Ran new cat5 for DSL so i could put the new switch/router and modem together in the rack.

Wednesday (today) i delivered all the new Crestron gear and the LAN stuff and mounted it all in the rack.

Were using 4 of the new TPS6X panels. The docking station is very nice but a pain in the ass to get the panel in and out of.. Maybe its something you learn and it becomes easier. The TPS6X is awesome but it has a piano black finish. Fingerprints!

When you unbox the TPS6X your supposed to charge the panel up.. then take it off the charger and keep the display lit until the battery fully drains.. then put it back on the charger. Something like training the battery.. i read the warning sheet so fast.. then forgot what it said a few seconds later because i was running around like a mad man trying to get everything done.

Tomorrow im wiring up the rack & Friday im setting up the LAN & Cresnet.

are you locking it in to the docking station everytime? you do not have to. you can just lay it on there, i love the way it just hooks on it is actually quite easy.

I was going 90mph today and i spent all of 1 minute with each panel doing the battery dealio. Tomorrow i will have more time to play with them.

Being able to hang it without locking is awesome.. It felt super clumsy to have to lock or unlock it each time

Thanks theKevin, and thanks to everyone else for the kind words.

Simon.

Yep you don't have to lock it to charge. But once it's locked and you get the hang of it it's quite easy. I just grab with 2 hands and flick my finger on the tab and it's off...pretty clean and easy. Very similar to the motion I use for cruise control on my cars where they all have hidden cruise control levers.

Problem I see coming up is in a public environment (board room) or with house guests. I just know some meat-head is going to try and get that off by twisting and pulling until it snaps. And if you've looked at and taken apart the base (why not? I'm curious) you'll notice that 10 pin proprietary cable isn't easy to replace so the whole cabling and base will have to be removed. I really wish the cable at the base was detachable on both ends.

Oh and Simon, once again, you are the shit! That's a good thing over here, don't take offense if it means something else down there :-)

I worked for a couple who just got transferred here from Alaska. He is an air traffic controller.
He mentioned he is a "staunch" Republican, and he went on and on about how great McCain & Palin are...
I just kept working and kept my mouth shut! I occasionally would nod my head up and down, muttered a few yep, she's a hell of a gal & yeah he's a hero...

I impressed myself! I didn't say a word about anything political at all!
