I've installed 2.02 but find it extremely slow to work with on a 9600 with latest firmware. Any ideas to resolve this.

On the sonos forums i found this posted by a Sonos moderator :
The Pronto SONOS controller is not fully developed.
The current Pronto controller code is trying to be more than a SONOS controller. I think that they are trying to develop a generalized program shell for UPnP devices. The extra abstraction layers slow things down. I have some concerns that it may not ever respond fast enough.
Is there someone the can remove the abstraction layers so that the module gets faster. I bought a Pronto 9600 for 1300 euros , to operate my tv set , dvd , receiver and of course Sonos system , but it's to slow to operate the Sonos , so i've spend my money for nothing.
I had a TSU1000 , so i didn't need the 9600 , but because philips announced they could control Sonos ,i've bought the 9600 :s

Talk to Philips. Sorry for the sarcasm but they own the module. Email addy can be found by searching for user ProntoTeam on this site.

It was put together with a set of libraries that have not been performance-tuned.
Performance-tuning takes time and a huge effort in some cases. I just spent over 160 hours working on an upcoming version of EscientPronto to shave off 2.5 seconds from the startup time. I am also trying to tune it such that I can have both EP and a Denon TCP script in the same activity and have any sort of semblance of a smooth volume ramp.
Right now, it takes about 28 seconds to go from -80db to 18db on my Denon. Still lots more work to go but I can tell you, it does take lots of time to tune/adjust code for performance in this environment.

The Sonos script is awesome and I was able to tweak the graphics to work perfectly on my tsu9400. I'm only missing one key feature that completes this solution. Has anyone figured out how to get the play menu (play now, play next, add to queue, etc) to display when selecting an item from the library? There must be a more straightforward way to play a song from the libary, without having to add it to the queue, and then play from the queue. At a minimum, the Firm1 or the OK button should should allow you to play from the library.

I have the Sonos_module_V2.02 adapted by Philips for the TSU9400. It all works like the original. You can download it from my website. www.rothmediatechnik.ch
Does it suffer just as slow as the original. Have fun ...

Thanks for sharing. Since this was developed by Phillips, I wonder why they don't just have it on their site? Maybe they are too busy improving the speed of this module :)... SJ

Help needed. Call me stupid but I can't seem to get the sonos module working. I am programming both my 9400&9600 with PEP2 via Parallels (mac os) and all works fine. The panel has sufficient wifi signal and gets an easy connection. The sonos is fully controlable via the sonos controller and iphone (iphone is talking via DHCP with my Cicso/Linksys wifi router using the free sonos app). I placed an "execute and jump" bottom on my home menu. But when I press this button the pronto jumps to the "zone menu" page from the sonos module and does nothing further. It seems like no scripts are running.
I use a DHCP connection with wep64 encryption to connect to the wifi network
PS: I also tried to download the TSU9400 module but can't seem to import this
Any ideas?

What firmware on the Prontos? Anything of note in the diagnostic log?

Honestly larsb, do not waste any more of your time trying to get this Sonos module to work - it is a complete turkey!

Firmware... of course... everything works now. Many thanks!
AVD? Being a sonos user since its introduction, I considered this solution to complete my home setup once it was launched. The quote I received for a 4+4 solution however quickly made me change my mind. For this amount you can buy an iphone/Ipod touch for up to 4 separate zones. Above it seems, to me, not really the most logical solution, having to add an additional hardware controller.
Sure, I can understand the development of the AVD gear has taken some efforts and time but people wanting to spend this amount on a controller are better of with the 'real deal': AMX/CRESTON. Or on the other side of the price bar: squeezebox
For those somewhere stuck in between 'big budget' and 'budget shopper' a software only prontoscript does seem to be the better solution, no?

Also adds more hardware to the setup and I wondered about updates to it (when Sonos updates their devices, etc.). If this thing just ran a bit faster it would be good enough.... I would pay for a better module for a reasonable price. SJ
