Thought we could start a thread for folks who are using the new Sonos Module which works with the new ProntoEdit Professional v2.4.18. You can find the module at:

www.pronto.philips.com/index.cfm

They also have a 4 page "white paper" which explains some of the basics.  I recommend giving it a quick read.

You will need to update your firmware on your remote.   I'm currently testing with a TSU9800.

I created a button to "execute and jump" to the Sonos activity tab.  Upon first entering the tab, the remote searches for your zone players.  I have four, but it finds them in about 10 seconds.  It lists the models (ZP90, ZP120, etc.) and the IP address.  It does not find the NAME that you have assigned.  Hopefully this is something that Pronto can add.  You select the zone and then it displays a "Now Playing" screen.  I had music already going which it quickly showed.  In some of the documentation, they indicate that Pause/Play are slow, but I found them to work quite quickly.  As well as jump, etc.  You can find your music library.  Look for albums, artists.  All of these seems to work, but SLOWLY.  Frankly, I'm happy with the ability to just display music and have basic controls, but clearly they can improve all of this.  The Pronto team has already indicated that they will be updating the module early in 2010.  Thanks Pronto Team! I use Rhapsody. Although you can't access directly, you can start a channel on a Sonos remote (or desktop software) and it will show what is playing on the pronto. You can skip to the next song, etc. Works great. Also shows the album art. We use this feature a lot in our home. Also, we create Sonos Playlists which also show up on the pronto. Example, we create our own "Holiday" playlist based upon the various christmas albums that Rhapsody has (they have LOTS - so we select the ones we like). The pronto shows what is playing on the playlist, you can again skip, pause, play, etc.). You can actually select Sonos playlists from the pronto. One thing I would like to see is the ability to override the volume control. It is hooked to the sonos volume control feature, but we have many zones that our "fixed". I can't use my pronto volume control. I setup my channel +/- button to also have volume control (RS232 to my Denon AVP) and this works fine as Sonos doesn't use this hard button. A workaround for now... SJ

Spent more time with the Music Library. Seems to work great, especially SEARCH. Sure easy to pick letters on my TSU9800! Works pretty fast. Once you find something you can select to add it to your zone's Queue. Great!

Hey this is GREAT ! ( I've been waiting for this for about 18 months)

All seems to work pretty smoothly on my system.

Definitely would be nice to see the zone Names instead of ip addresses ( especially as you can't assign static IP to sonos zoneplayers)

Also there seems to be no option for 'All tracks' after you have browsed to an album - it seems you have to add to the queue one by one - or have I missed something....?

Overall though - good effort!

Hit the "Add to Queue" button when you are on the Album page (as an example) before you select it (and then it goes to the tracks). SJ

Not sure. Formatting is different on the 9400. 9800 and 9600 are the same with the 9800 just being a larger screen. I also have a 9400 and would like to add Sonos to it. I'll try it at some point. I'm sure they will add another module in the future for the 9400 if this current one doesn't work. SJ

Currently the module only supports 9600 and the 9800. Lets hope the 9400 isn't too far behind.

Another big thanks to the Philips team for the module and software update.

I tried it on my TSU9400. It actually works, but the issue is formating for the different size screen. Only the top left corner of the various screens show up. The module was designed for the 9600/9800 and therefore it just is not usable for the 9400. I would be very suprised if they don't add a module for the 9400 in the near future. SJ

I went into the layout and resized a few buttons, etc. to get things to fit (pretty ugly at this point). Just to give me some basic playback buttons (play, stop, skip, song title, etc.). Works on the TSU9400. SJ

How would I get to the Sonos prontoscript code to modify? Would like to change the use of the volume control firm button. SJ

Can you not add your own volume control directly to the Hard Keys? Sonos is not a built-in module on the remote so ProntoScript is also allowed. Doubt you will be able to see the script in this version. It is encrypted Prontoscript, IIRC.

I have the hard button defined with the volume control for my processor (RS232). However, it is ignored as there must be prontoscript written for those hard buttons. Assume prontoscript gets priority? Can I write additional code for volume? Sonos has a volume control that works directly on the various zone modules (changes the output of the signal). However, I don't use it as it messes up my zoning volume, etc. As I indicated in another part of this thread, I changed the Channel +/- firm button to also have volume (which works). Guess I'll have to live with a workaround for now. SJ

Now I've finally been able to load the module I'm very impressed. The beta release I tested a couple of weeks ago was very slow, however Philips have obviously been busy as V1.8 is MUCH faster.

Great start..
