My first post and already I'm looking for help.

I got my Pronto 9600 yesterday, though I've spent a week or so with PEP2. Everything is good so far except IR learning problem.

The database codes for my Logitech Z5500 amp are from the O1R database (Logitech - Amplifier - Codeset 1435). All the functions work, but there are three codes missing.

The original Z5500 remote has 3 input buttons, Optical, Coaxial and Direct. The O1R codes only have an Input Toggle which doesn't quite meet my requirements.

I added the 3 functions and used the database learning function for the 3 missing codes but I get warnings for all three. I was warned that they were out of range for the 9600.

Strangely when I click on the database test button for these three codes they work. They do select the correct inputs on my Z5500 amp.

According to PEP2 help if a code has a warning it won't download to the 9600. I've tried and it doesn't.

Why do I get 'out of range' warnings and yet the test button operates my Z5500?

TIA for any help.

Appologies, false alarm.

It seems I have to learn IR codes in the dark.

Also make sure you are positioning the Original Remote correctly to the TSU9600 Learning Eye.

See "How to Place the Control Panel for (Fast) Learn" in Help.

You are correct-we are missing the optical, coaxial and direct codes for the Logitech Amp you mentioned. In fact we are missing all those codes. We don't name devices with codeset numbers and have not included Logitech in our database. I assume you are looking at the Philips database and not ours. You might want to increase the code duration since they work in test mode.

Sorry Stan, you are right. The codes are from the Philips DB.

I have now got the 9600 to learn the codes I was after.

Probably not the best first post but hopefully my worst.

Of course, you have noticed that the Logitech does not have discrete Power On and Off codes. I am using a power sensor on the Power cord to the subwoofer and it works generally well (although there is a little delay). The power sensor is connected to the RFX9600 power sense inputs.

Have been looking in to the power cord issue just today. It is all fairly new to me, I didn't even kow the 9600 existed until a few weeks ago. Have bought may universal remotes an none of them come close to the 9600 capabilites.

Just started reading about the RF possibilites. I have a lot of 'learning' to do. (sorry couldn't resist)

So far I'm delighted with the 9600, except a minor driver problem (HID). So using another less powerful PC for the moment, just a bit slower when using the database, but I can live with that (for now).

2Many,

PEP2 is a memory hog. I have an older XP laptop with 512M of RAM and PEP2 is sluggish on that machine. On a Vista 64 desktop with lots of RAM, PEP2 is peppy. Adding more RAM would be a cheap upgrade. I will not take my own advice because the memory sockets on that machine are known for causing trouble. Upsetting the sockets by swapping RAM would be a major blunder.

The Vista machine is in a different location (with no Prontos), but I do most of my major programming on the desktop and transfer the file to the laptop using a USB dongle or I can upload the program to a server and fetch the program from anywhere. One must be careful to keep MyDatbase synchronized on the various machines.

The HID issue is a major problem for some users.

The only remaining issue is a discrete on/off
