BUMP

I was getting the same message. Time is money so I just booted direct to XP and it worked fine. I think it has something to do with the USB driver needing to be updated in the virtual machine but haven't had time to look into it further.

If you don't get an answer here post this over at the CI lounge, there's a couple guys over there running the same setup.

Is the remote showing up in the virtual machine? There should be a USB icon at the bottom of the window that shows that it is connected. By default, VMWare hides HIDs - like mice and keyboards. If it's not showing up, see this thread: [Link: remotecentral.com]

Thanks for the help.

After installing the vmx extras :

First you will need to completely quit the VMWare app. then:

You need to go to the preconfigured Option, after opening up your .vmx it should pretty much take you to the file, and set USB HID to "Show USB HID"
Save the settings then open up your VM.
I found that if you turn on the USB, on the bottom right of your VM window, specifically the OHSUNG URCHID usb it should see it as a HID device and I had no problem uploading/downloading to a MX-900

I haven't done this in a while, but I believe this thread explains the location:

OK well that helped me locate the .vmxf file but inserting this
usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE" does not work either. Any chance you can copy/paste the contents of your .vmxf file here? I tried inserting that string in 4 different ways with no results.

As a side note, I can't use the wifi when in the virtual machine but can use it just fine in OSX and Bootcamp.

phew what a rigamarole (been waiting to get that in a conversation for a while) that was. Thanks guys!

Now I'm onto why I can't utilize the airport via Fusion. Another day for that one...I've had enough for one day :-)

sigh....sorry for wasting your time. Ever have "one of those days"? I figured it out. While in Fusion I saw in Control Panel - Network - Local Area connection...didn't even look into that because in a Windows environment that's dedicated for direct LAN connection via ethernet. Well sure enough, when I enabled it I was online via Fusion at 1.0 Gigabit (false reading of course but still cool to see it show up).

OK now I'm done...time to go home!
