I have read a lot of previous threads here and also a lot of information available on the web but I still can not decide between these 2 remotes. Neither is perfect (what is?) and each has it's advantages and short-comings.
None of my equipment is utterly special or unusual (Listed below). I did have a TSU3000 which I had the screen not working problem and while trying to fix it I cracked the screen so now its finished. I do have a completed PCF file (except for the Sony TV which I just got myself for Xmas) but I would have to re-do the buttons anyway for a color screen. I currently do not use RF so for now, that also does not come into play for me.
One of the things I am hesitant about Philips is the lack of customer support as the touch screen going after the warranty on what is clearly a MFG defect (bad part or bad connection to the board), people got no help at all from Philips. If that happened again to me I would be very displeased as I can not afford (or should I have to) buy a new remote every 2-3 years. I do not like the attitude of URC on what they have done to their clients with their not supporting software upgrades for people that did not purchase from authorized dealers although I would be buying from one so it does not directly affect me.
I do like the variables idea from the MX-3000 and like the one-handed operation of the Philips. There is clearly more supported equipment and graphic layouts available for the 7500 but in my case, I have all my original remotes and all codes except my new TV are already done so for now, that does not affect me except for my new color layout.
The Philips would cost me about $100.00+taxes less than the MX-3000.
I need help on this. If people can list the benefits of one to the other; Pros & Cons on both sides of the argument, I believe it would be beneficial for not just me but for others as well.
My Equipment:
Sony KDF55E2000 LCD RPTV
Yamaha RX-V1300 HT Receiver
Scientific Atlanta 8300HD Cable receiver
Pioneer DVR-A520
Yamaha DVD-S540
JVC S7500 VCR
S.A. 2200 Cable Box (for DVR)
A couple of regular Toshiba TV's in other rooms
A JVC VCR in another room
A couple of portable Air Conditioners
Thanks to all who answer
Michael
