Hello

I recently bought an LG 70LB650V TV and have been trying to get the RS232 commands to work via the USB.

I have connected the TV to my laptop and a com port, using the LG RS232 software. I can get a few commands to work, like power off, mute, volume but the most important one for me is the power on. For some reason, this just doesn't work.

The actual command is ka 01 01, baud rate is 9600, data length is 8, parity is none, databits is 1.

Does anyone have any ideas as I am a little stuck now.

Thanks
Shai

You are connected to the USB port on the TV? That the USB port is probably powered down when the TV is off.

Peter is right, unfortunately LG missed the boat on this one. The earlier models had regular RS-232 ports and worked perfectly. The newer models require a USB to serial adapter. Unfortunately the USB ports are powered down when sets are not in use - probably attributed to a power savings feature. Not a fun thing to integrate as it requires a combination IR & Serial control, which is what we use. Complain to LG and hopefully they will turn those ports back on through firmware... Wishful thinking..

I suppose that does make sense but no harm in complaining to LG!!

Having that RS232 in the back makes it look so much neater than having the IR cable at the front of the TV.

I and many others share your pain.
