Hi

I'm trying to figure out the best lighting system to use with a Pronto, I'd to control and dim lamps / ceiling lights without re-cabling the house.

The rub is that I'm based in the UK and I'd like to be able to do it directly with the Pronto.

I do have a HTPC running girder 24/7 which could be utilised (but I much prefer not to). Currently I'm looking at Rako (using the PC) but its quite expensive and ugly for the lamps, or z-wave if I can work out how to contol it.

Thanks in advance.

I am using a bunch of Insteon light modules along with their IR-to-Insteon receiver and it has worked very well. The Insteon series are fairly inexpensive and suitable for amateur installation. Smarthome.com carries the line of products. I did purchase the [Link: universal-devices.com] controller so I could program the system from my computer but you can get away without it. The proton learns the codes from the ir remote included with the Insteon IR receiver or you can just pick an NEC code set and teach the Insteaon receiver to respond to it.

Thanks Jasonvp, will do later.

dadrams, thanks also for your advice, but I don't think insteon is availble in the UK yet, at least I couldn't see it from a quick google.

You're correct Insteon is only available in the US through Smarthome.com
