I am trying to install 2 PCS SceneMaster switches in a 2 gang box to replace 2 dimmers that control 4 and 6 can lights. There are 3 pairs of 2 conductor wire in the box. All 3 white wires are connected together. The current dimmers each have 2 black wires. 1 black wire on each dimmer goes to a separate black wire that enters the box. The remaining black wire on each dimmer is connected together , and goes to the remaining unused black wire that enter the box. Using a cheap voltage indicator, I checked each black wire for voltage with the both switches on and off. The black wire that is connected to both dimmers stayed hot. So I guess you would call that the “Line” from the panel? The black wires that when cold when the switch was turned off would be the “line” wire going to the load? The white wire that is paired with the panel load is the “neutral” from the panel? Looking at the directions that came with the new switch, would I connect the black and white panel “line” wire to the black and white wires on the new switch? Red wire from new switch to the black wire that goes to the load? What about the 2 remaining white wires? Do they just stay together, or do all 3 white wires connect to the white wires on the new switches

The last one: leave all the white wires connected together, and add the new ones to them. You have everything else correct, including your deductions about the incoming and outgoing wires. One suggestion for you and everyone: make new paragraphs every so often; it makes for easier reading. Larry www.fineelectricco.com
