I was wondering about getting either the Leviton 2202 or 2380 dimmers. I know that the 2380 has more features, but can I take advantage of any of the extra features using my Pronto and a 4040 RF to IR converter?

The 2380 doesn't offer any additional features that are usable with a Pronto over what the other swtiches you mentioned offer, except a "true rocker" switch action. If you are looking for a "true rocker" switch action, I reommend the Leviton 16383 or the PCS SS1L/S-600. The PCS switch has a programmable duration for the soft start feature where the lamps will ramp up/down over a programmable period of time (i.e. 3 seconds to 13 minutes). The Leviton switch has "Intellisense" with AGC.

By the way, the model numbers you cited are HAS product numbers and are not the same as the manufacturer product numbers.

Robert - maybe you can answer a question about Leviton's dimmer switches that I don't quite understand. Looking at Leviton's catalog, I notice that quite a few of their switches (including the 16383-WI) require a Neutral connection. I've checked the wiring at most of my switch locations and only two wires are visible.

Why do these switches require a neutral connection? Also, if my house wiring doesn't provide the option, what Leviton dimming (and/or non-dimming) switch would you recommend?

One other quick question. In two locations in my house I have dual switches controlling a light (top and bottom of stairs). Will Leviton's remote switches work or will I need to run a control wire (something I'm not too keen to do).

The Leviton 16383 actually does not require a neutral wire like the PCS switch does. The neutral wire connection on the 16383 is optional.

Present electrical code in the United States does not require that a neutral wire be run to wall switch boxes. However, many builders run a neutral wire to each switch box anyway because certain switches do require a neutral wire. Look for several white wires connected with a wire nut in the switch box - these are the neutral wires. If you only see 2 black wires and a ground, then you don't have the neutral. The Leviton switch will still work however.

If you already have 2 switches controlling one light, this is a 3-way circuit. You use the Leviton 16383 as the "master" switch, and a much less expensive "slave" switch for the other. No additional wiring is needed.
