Does anyone know if I can use an X/10 i/r converter with one or two modules to raise and lower a 110v a/c projection screen? I believe the screen uses a double throw/double pole switch.

I wish to incorporate the i/r commands into my IRIQ (my projector does not have a trigger).

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm in Europe, so I use 220V devices, but the modules are the same.

I use a IR>X10 converter (smarthome or X10.com) and a drape receiver (up/down)...

It works well.

Is there such a thing as a wall mountable up/down X10 receiver? Where can I get one? I can't find one anywhere and I'd like to use the above method to control my screen.

Thanks.

There is a device called a fixture module it comes in an appliance (relay) or lamp (dimmable) variety. it can be buried in a box such as a standard 2 gang outlet with a blank cover plate. Since this is a SPST device you will also need a 110v Relay of the SPDT variety which will also fit in the same box. This will give you, if wired right 2 positions, all up and all down controlled by the internal limit switches. Another way is to use two fixture modules, one for up and one for down, but be sure they are not both on at the same time. All of this stuff is availabkle from worthington distributers on the web or smarthome homeautomation also on the web. There are also IR controlled DPDT relay but they come in banks of 4 or 8 and are pricey also at smarthome.

Bob. If your projection screen will raise/lower with a contact closure, and X-10 Universal module should work for you. A Universal model receives an X-10 command (e.g. from the Pronto via an IR543 (aka 4040))and then closes a relay that is connected to the two screw terminals on the module. You can set the module to provide momentary contact closure (2 seconds) or set it for continuous contact closure. If it is set for continuous closure, you would have to send it an X-10 off signal to open the contacts. The contacts are rated for up to 5A at 24 VDC, or 15A at 120 VAC if properly insulated.

I finally sucessfully completed the electric screen control through my IRIQ remote. I purchased an X/10 4040 ir transceiver control pad and a couple of appliance modules. I connected two 120 volt plugs to the up and down control wires on the screen, connected to the X/10 modules with extension cords and set the control pad to number 1 on the raise module and 2 on the lower module.
Then I programmed a macro in the IRIQ (the X/10 codes were already in the software) to select the appropriate module and off or on. Works great and my total investment is less than $50. (vs. $270 for Da-Lite's low voltage interface and ir remote kit). I now plan to add a couple of light dimmer modules and program their control into the IRIQ macros as well. Thanks to all for your posts.
