So RTI just released a couple of weeks ago the DLO drivers. I need a dock that would work with the ZRP6, and this does video, (solves a issues with the iport for a past customer). I got it working but not great, feedback was messed up often, but not always. So after speaking with RTI they recommended me to check for firmware updates from DLO. So no problem, go on there website and it isn't listed. No updates, but it gets worse, DLO tells me this product has been discountined for some time, and was suprised that I was able to get a hold of one. I was told if it breaks it can't be replaced with same model, and they don't have any current models that offer RS232. I guess Philips has recently bought DLO.

So we have these new drivers 2 weeks released for old products. Whats up with that.

Has anyone else used these, and got them working good?

No but the soon to be released iPort FS-23 has an on screen GUI!  No RS232, but it does have a network port so I'm hoping it has IP control.  $450 MSRP

So why is Iport so backwards??

The IW22 has 232 but no on screen gui for control....

soon to be out is the IW-23..gives the on screen gui but loses the 232

Why cant there be both?? Iport says they cant do both...why can they do both but not in the same model??

We spec'd in a DLO for a job where we need onscreen for 2 rooms and metadata in 3 other rooms...DLO is the only one that has both with RTI drivers

The Escient FP1 does both... and has drivers. The most recent set of drivers work well.

Cool, May have to look into that one...Client will have to understand that the IW is not going to work and deal with a counter top ipod base

Thanks Andy!

Sonance engineer's have their heads up their collective asses as far as the I-port goes. They have for a while now, and sales knows it, although they will not official admit it. I spent some time with them at Cedia last year.

Philips has owned DLO for a while now, that is not new as far as I know...

Have you looked at writing RS232 codes for iPort, not fun. I was trying to get it to do video, have some customer with pictures and some video on iPod they wanted to have work. I never did get it to work, without disabling the 2way, and just doing it locally.

The only downfall is that when you put the iPod in the FP1, the dock then goes out over the network and gets all the info... depending on how much music the customer has, it can take a few minutes. Whereas the FS/IW models take the info straight from the iPod... MUCH faster.

It sure would make sense for iPort to build one right and stick with it... rather than bringing out new models every other year. The only thing that has changed on the iPods is the iPhones charging pins.

Check out the Marantz IS301 ipod dock. It is much better. It has 232, bluetooth, ir and great support from Marantz. It also has video out and retails at $249.

It has Video out, but does it have an onscreen GUI? I don't believe that it does... not to mention, you have to use it WITH a Marantz Receiver to get any metadata. No RTI Drivers for just the dock.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Above is the link I found to upgrade the firm ware for the Home Dock Pro. I have one, and will be hooking it up to my XP8 when I have time to install everything, but I have seen these work pretty well with the XP8.
When they released the DLO Driver for the XP8 last year the product was discontinued...

the fp1 only holds the last 5 ipods docked info. If the ipod has alot of music(10g) it takes about 10 mins to get info and start playing if it the first time docked . The internet radio bulit in is great feature.
