I have two T4's left on their charging bases in one room

Noticed that one of them goes to sleep (screen goes blank) even while on the powered base, and sometimes reboots when I wake it up: I have seen other similar reports

Turns out it is the rear battery cover on the T4 that is causing the issue: if I remove the cover the problem is solved (moving the T4 side to side with cover on helps too, but not consistently): you can charge and operate the T4 without the cover but I would not recommend it

Anyone else still having this problem?

I've had this issue severa times. Hopefully the revised base will help. Ive had one in service that had this issue from day one. Is RTI charging for it??

I had a few that did that, replaced the battery, problem solved. How old is the battery? You typically get about 1 year out of them.

that is another story: got a new battery from RTI: it would not hold its charge so I sent it back to RTI to look at it

as long as I leave the battery covers off the T4 behaves fine, so I will ask RTI about the new base

let us know what you find out about the base. Brett mentioned something to me about it..but that was 6+ months ago...and he had no idea on how to go about ordering/requesting one.

Remember the swelled battery issue as well. Have one in service like that - the back is just expanded and won't charge well. Client holding off on a new batt.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I spoke to Drew at tech support

There is a fix but you need to return the T4 and its charge base to RTI: the fix involves moving the contacts to make a better connection

Drew said this is covered under warranty

Not sure I want to return the units for service knowing the turn around time: I may just leave the battery cover off

Ha. sounds similar to the fix they gave me for a wifi card that would continually disconnect. Uncrew everything, pry the cover off, unscrew some more and add stronger tape to the back of the wifi card.

Check with RTI, they have a revised base.

got 2 new T4 charge bases from RTI on an advance return and it resolved the issue

Brett had told me both the T4 and the charge base had to go back to RTI for modification but the new charge base resolved the issue

the new charge base has the same P/N 20-210035-13 but looking at the 4 contacts they are different: they are solid with a nickel coat as opposed to the original contacts which were copper finish and each contact had two prongs

also in the box for some reason was a Docking Station board, the part that was revised: it is marked REV D2: the board has the 4 contacts and the 12 volt receptacle and looks pretty easy to change out. Note there is a fuse F1 on the board

finally the T4's sit on the base and stay on: have not seen any rebooting issues either

RTI also replaced a new T4 battery that was defective
