Through eBay I paid $400 plus $50 return shipping for restoration services in June 2020 and sent my Pioneer SX-950 receiver to Brent at "crossed paths". He assured me at that time he had all parts in the warehouse and the pandemic should not be a problem regarding completion and return in 60 days or so. It's now May 2021 and he has promised me my item "this month" several times. Now he is no longer replying to my inquiries. I've contacted eBay to get them involved and they say they'll contact him. I've contacted PayPal but since it's been more than 180 days they will not do anything. I've not asked either provider for money back, just to get on Brent to complete and return my receiver.

I sent my PIONEER sx-1980 to him 6 weeks ago, he keeps saying he is waiting for parts. is this guy legit?

I sent my Pioneer SX-950 to him 11 months ago. Sadly it has not been returned yet and he is no longer replying to me. He has made too many excuses and said to me it will be done "this month" too many times.

I sent a Sansui 5000 to this guy on Halloween 2020
Still don’t have it back. Typical excuses: Holidays, Winter storm in February, parts shortage... I call and text with rare responses. Sometimes it takes over a month for a text response. Communication skills are nonexistent.
I finally talked to him today and assured me that it will be shipped next week.
I’m furious and he knows it.
Just came across this thread. I’ll let everyone know if I get it next week. If not we may be able to get him off eBay.
Btw, I didn’t notice before when I first sent my receiver but he has no reviews on eBay for his work quality on stereo equipment. None. I think this is a hobby for him.

Yep! Guess I'm next in line. Sent my Pioneer 1050 to him in January. Received the same excuses about the Texas power shutdown, waiting for parts, etc.. I'm done with this guy! Wish I had seen this thread before I sent him my property and money, but looks like I'm not the only one to be taken. Well, I'm not going to stop until either I get get my property back (whether he restores it or not), or I go after his business.

Hi,
I’ll let everyone know whether I get mine back next week.
If not I’m going to PayPal, VISA and EBay.
I think he’s an excon. If you Google his name I found a story about a guy with his same unusual name in a corrections van that was in an accident while being transported to another prison in Oklahoma.
I’ll bet it’s him

After many angry text messages and emails from me; Brent is finally following through in shipping my unit out. He emailed me a Fedex tracking number for the shipment. It looks legit. He also apologized for the delay in turning around my receiver. He's had my Pioneer SX-780 since 1/8/21.

He’s had my Sansui since Halloween.
Consider yourself lucky
Let us know you actually received it too.
He promised mine would be sent Today
Until it’s here I don’t believe anything he says.

I think you might be correct regarding Crossed-Paths being a hobby for Brent. In our initial conversation, he stated that he does the work. Also, I Googled the address that Brent requested I send my receiver to. It's a residence in Burleson, TX. I was expecting a storefront shop in a light industrial or commercial district. Due to the fact that he's placed 30+ listings for restorations on EBAY, I can see where he would be totally overwhelmed. Then factor in that he's got multiple people on his ass daily wanting their units completed and returned...

Well, I got my Sansui back after 7 months.
The main reason to send it to him was to go through it and replace anything that needed to be fixed. It worked fine but it’s 50 yrs old. I had just purchased it and wanted someone to do a “professional” assessment of it.
Got it yesterday and the right channel goes in and out. I changed the speakers to a different output on the receiver thinking it was maybe the 1st. Nothing now on the right side at all except during FM playback.
It worked fine when I sent to him and now when I turn the receiver on and powers up I get the dreaded loud “WHUMP” through the speakers.
This guy is a clown. He also sends it back without going through EBay so you can’t write a review. I’m calling eBay tomorrow to have it bypassed.

People are on his ass because he make promises he has no intention of keeping.
If he has customers who have paid for his services he has no right taking on more before he takes care of his paid obligations.
He states 30-60 days turnaround. He is really 7 months plus if at all. There are people here who sent equipment over a year ago. I just got mine back and it’s a mess. He’s a scam artist. On your point, if he’s so busy and has completed many refurbishes how come there are no reviews of his work on eBay?
Because he’s a scam artist. I just found the pictures he uses on a public vintage forum too. Everything about is a scam.

I agree with you 100% that he's a scammer and to not send him any gear.
He sent back my Pioneer last week. As soon as I unpacked it, I pulled off the cover and saw that everything was original. Granted, he did clean the backplate and the receiver seemed to be in good working order again, but it was nowhere near the total re-cap that he advertised and certainly not worth the $450 that I paid and waited nearly 5 months to get it returned. I took photos of it with the cover removed, but I'm not sure how to post them here. Anyone could see that he hardly touched the inside of the receiver. I'm just hoping that nothing else fails on it so that I need to bring it to a local tech for service.

I too have been scammed by this guy. Bought his service through eBay in November, hand delivered my unit to him, he had me meet him at a gas station. Same story as everyone else; he made a lot of promises and delivered on nothing, texts with excuses and stories that never sounded like the truth.
After almost 8 months, I told him I’d had enough & wanted my merchandise back, unfixed, so I drove back to Texas & he had me meet him at the same gas station, and he gave it back to me.
It was filthy, like it had been placed on a shelf and wasn’t even touched until he gave it back.
After I had the stuff back in my trunk, I told him I paid for a service I didn’t receive & wanted a refund. He played dumb, saying he didn’t know I had paid, but he’d take care of it when he got home. He then made a few more promises about issuing a refund but it hasn’t come.
eBay was no help; Brent seems to be well acquainted with circumventing their rules so they protect him instead of you.
I filed a dispute with the card I use for PayPal, hopefully they’ll help me recover the money.
I’m glad I got my unit back, not happy about the money part. Not happy with eBay for protecting him or PayPal for not caring.

I just found this forum over Brent Huskins. I sent him a fully fuctional Pioneer SX 1250 in July, 2020. It had some scratches that he said he could fix. The unit had sentimental value to me. I paid a lot of money through Ebay to have it shipped along with the fee. It was over $900 but the sentimental value alone led to pay high bucks for cosmetics. After months of his lies, it was never returned. Ebay did NOTHING. There's a sale January 2021 of a Pioneer SX 1250 on his page on Ebay which may be mine. He is still operating on EBay. I contacted Ebay before they stopped receiving calls and was told they are not responsible for services. After six months the transaction dropped off Ebay so I sent them a letter in April 2021, which they never responded to it. Out the money and out the unit. There is no need to hire a lawyer to go after this crook but do you think I have a case against Ebay for the "Rip Off" in combination of letting this crook to continue to operate on Ebay? Also, I am really looking to drive to Texas to file fraud changes against him. Do you think that will go anywhere? I have copies of all his lies and receipts for everything.

Google is your friend when doing your due diligence. Brent was first brought up in this very site way back in 2009.

Similar story to most of what is posted previously. Found Brent’s listing on EBay then looked up his website. Drove up to Burleson and delivered my Sansui G-7000 and G-9000db along with a Pioneer Pl-520 turntable. Met him at the previously referenced gas station. Left with the expectation repairs/refurbishing would be completed in 60 days or so. This was in early March. After waiting 4 months and getting no reply to emails, voicemail, pm, I started a Google search and found plenty of information to cause me to be concerned about whether I may have been scammed. I called and left a very strong voicemail that I would be coming to Burleson to his home with the sheriff to reclaim my property. Received a text response almost immediately. He called me the following day and committed to getting the work done ASAP. Long story short, he completed the work as agreed. I picked up all of my equipment today at his shop. He demonstrated both receivers and the turntable. Everything looks and sounds great. Overall process was 5 months. Plus the additional hassle of having to hammer on him. Did notice his shop had rack upon rack of vintage equipment awaiting repair. That’s my 2 cents worth.
