coax to optical converters?

MY DVD has both output formats- fine. But my receiver, Sony 333ES, has both types for the DVD input BUT ONLY optical for the other 5 digital inputs.

our CD juke box has optical digital out (cx400), fine.

guess what, our digital cable box was installed yesterday and it has dig.coax out only.

And changing the 'label' on the receivers' LCD screen (swapping TV and DVD) wouldn't quite work- it might make things more complicated for house-sitting relatives who prefer the 'traditional' remotes... plus, that would keep me from using my receiver as a video switcher/selector (my panasonic TV seems to be a 'toad' with no discrete codes for cable/video1/video2 so i was gonna have the Sony switch between the 3 video sources)

anyone know if a digital coax to digital-optical converter exists on the market?

thanks!

Take a look at www.audioauthority.com they have basic converters - model #977, and a signal switching 4 in 1 out model #1177.
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.

Hakalugi, save yourself some money, and check this out:

I know it's hard to believe, being so cheap, but I have the 'companion' that does the opposite, because my satellite receiver has only an optical output, and it works great. It's here:

Don't forget to order the power supply for it. It's cheaper than you can get on at Radio Shack for.

You can also use a rca y adapter - just don't run both at the same time.

Try soundprofessionals.com. I picked one up for $25.00. It works great and allows me to convert the coax output from the cable box to a optical input on the receiver.

He needs to do a conversion from one digital signal format to another. This cannot be done with a simple Y-adapter. Item 15-1228 available from Radioshack can do such a convertion as well as the opposite convertion. It's a two way converter.

Well he finally took the bait. I set up "oldpost" with a very obvious password which he decided to change thus modifying someone elses account. It's not like we didn't know what he was and this must be a clear violation of forum rules. Daniel is this enough of this fellow or what?

Seems like entrapment to me.

Is not drowning us in old posts interfering with our usage?
