I came across an interesting remote from Sony today. It's a RM-V30. It seems to be a universal remote by the fact that it has a switch for VCR-Cable-Tv on it. The only other buttonns on it is a Set, Power, TV/Video , Vol, Ch, Play, FFWD, RWD, Stop. It dosen't have any number keys like on most of the Sony Universal Remotes so I am trying to figure out how to program it.

Some other unique features on it is that it is somewhat pear shaped with the larger round part being weighted so that the remote sticks up in the air, If you push it, it will rock back and forth like one of the punching dummys that you hit em they keep coming back up. There are no leds and it takes a 3volt coin battery.

If anyone else has some info on this thing I would love it.

I remember seeing this too, I think it was in the Japanese site. I'm just guessing, but I don't think it's a learning remote or has a bunch of pre-programmed codes for different components from different manufacturers. I think it's a "funky" looking basic, replacement remote for your Sony TV.

I have one of these as well. I bought it about 18 months ago at a Circuit City for (believe it or not!!!) $1.99.

If I recall correctly, Circuit City was blowing them out- limit one per customer.

Now I wish I had bought about 40 of them, because they go on eBay for as much as $25.

If anyone knows where the manual for this can be found, I too desperately need instructions on programming it.

It is what my wife calls "the cute lil' remote"- and it would be alot cuter if I could get it to control my VCR!

First turn on component you wish to program.
Set switch to component you wish to program.
Press SET button
Press CH + buton and then POWER button.
Repeat until correct code is located. (Up to 70+ times)
When component turns off, press TV/VIDEO button to store code.
This is from the Manual which is on www.sonystyle.com under support information.
