I just read the great review on the RM-VL610, was hoping it could do this feature (with macros?) I've been looking for...

I have this habit (and I can't be alone) of watching more than one thing at once. If it's only 2 shows, the standard "Recall"/"Last Channel" feature is fine... but more than that, and I need something that an old cable remote had, where you could go to a channel, hit the "add" button, repeat for as many channels as you wanted, then hit the "cycle thru them" button. I'm sure it was a Favorite Channels feature or something like that, but it was the one-button ability to add or delete from the list that was so convenient.

Anyone else have a remote that does this? The RM-VL610 is certainly in my price range...

Thanks...

I'm doubtful that was a remote feature... far more likely it was a cable box feature.

You are correct, it was a cable box feature... and after thinking about it, it sounds like it would be a tall order for a remote. For one thing, a remote can never be sure what channel the TV is on. But, if you "added" a channel by entering the number directly, it seems like something you should be able to do with macros, albeit pretty complicated ones. I never used a remote with macros, can you have a macro that in turn defines another macro?

You can't do something like this on the RM-VL610, because every push of the macro would require a different macro.

With that said, there are two remotes on the market designed to do this: the Weemote, and the new Flipper. However those are both "special purpose" remotes that are far less capabable than the RM-VL610 in other ways. You could also do something like this with the more sophisticated touchscreens.
