I just purchased a Sony Remote and I can't get all of the functions to work. I have found a couple remote codes that will adjust the channel and volume but not the inputs (need to get to HDMI). I used 8042 for some functions but I cannot find a codes that controls everything. I have a Dynex 32" LCD DX10A and the RM VL610. I tried the 8043 code Dynex website suggests and every emerson code in the sony book. One memorex code worked but it has the same functions as the 8042.
Any ideas?
Hi Hou; I'm going to try and save you a lot of time and frustration here.
I've had to learn the hard way that its not uncommon for certain features to simply never work on universal remotes. Its annoying, I know, but as Daniel has mentioned having the original remote for that TV might at least enable you to reproduce some of the functions with a "learning universal" instead.
Unless your remote is the same brand and/or model as the TV, there is never a 100 percent guarantee that every button will do what your TV is capable of. Universals are designed to only handle the most basics of operations at best. This is why they are so cheap. And probably why the newer digital ones are so expensive.
Hopefully your store will let you return it if you don't want to work around the issues, but some places don't now because they are tired of dealing with customers like us who assume the product will restore everything to normal.
