Hello,

After using the VL600 for a long time I've hit an unexpected problem.
Auto repetition of any button starts without delay immdediately as you hold the button down.

It's irrelevant normally, but produces amazing results when the button you hit performs a toggle function.

Does anybody know a way to insert a delay after the first "stroke" and before the repetition begins? It is the behaviour of a computer keyboard, but I don't find a way to produce this in the handbook.

Thank you in advance.

Are these learned codes or database codes. If learned, this usually indicates a problem with the learning.

It is a learned code for a Philips "terrestrial digital TV tuner". In fact, the Philips pre-set code doesn't work at All -I had to make it learn all the buttons.

I changed the batteries just in case it was a learning problem caused by low battery. But the problem persists.

And I am very sure that the original Philips remote makes a pause between the first signal and the auto-repetitive signals that follow if you hold the button down. The VL600 doesn't make that pause, so you have to be quick releasing the button in order to get just one stroke

Repeat delays such as this almost always aren't controlled by the remote, which are really simple things. The remote sends a continuous repeating pattern of a signal, and it's up to the device to determine how to respond to it, including deciding when to switch from "single action" to "repetitive action".

Usually when something like this happens, it's because the remote didn't learn the signal correctly - usually timings; ie. it may be playing it back too quickly.

Or, it could be some bizarre implementation of a toggle bit (when you said Philips I went "awwwww").

Try some of the tips on this page: [Link: remotecentral.com]

Thank you very much, Daniel.

I've tried almost all the tips of your page. I have finally taught the buttons with the "quick click" procedure (instead of the "hold button down for a while" procedure).

If works perfectly for most part of the buttons, though it lets them non-repetitive.
There is only one button that I would prefer to be repetitive. I left that as repetitive, though it isn't 100% good, because it starts repeating immediately. But that is something I can live with :-)

THANK YOU AGAIN.

Glad I could help, but I wish I could have done more to solve the issue.
