hello, ive searched the forums and couldnt find anything on this....

i have the remote setup so that when i push DVD, the reciever changes to DVD. i cant figure out how to make the TV change to Video 6. right now i have to push the "input" button.

is there a way to have it setup like that. sony mentions something about it on page 19 of the manual, but hey...its a sony manual :P

thanks for your help

With the 3100, you have the ability to create a 4 step macro with a single key press (see page 63).
In this case, to get video 6, you only need 3 steps: video 4, input, input. Then, when you press this key, the tv will go to video 4 no matter where it was to begin with, and then to video 5, and then to video 6.

The only thing you have to watch out for here is if you programmed your tv to skip any designated inputs. For example, if you don’t use video 5, and have set the menu to skip it, then you would only need a video 4 and 1 input to get to video 6. Tailor your inputs to your specific setup.

I looked at page 19, as you mentioned, but since I don't have a 3100 yet, I don't really understand what it is trying to say, but the above procedure will work for you.

well i can get the macro to work, but i cant have it programmed to the main system select button. i have to use one of the touch screen keys.

there is a way to have the reciever auto change when the button is pressed, but not for the tv input.

i guess ill have to keep farting around with it :P

I missed that part about wanting to press the DVD button and have your tv input change. To do that, you can include in your macro the video 4 and input buttons (once or twice, depending on your setup). I still don’t understand what page 19 says.

For example, make your macro as follows on the DVD button:
TV component button
Video 4
Input (1 or 2 depending on your setup)
Receiver component button
Receiver DVD input button

This will then change your tv input first, then change your Rec input. I may not have it exactly, but you can get the idea from this.

Exactly what is happening when you try to make the macro on the DVD key, using the instructions on page 39? If you have learned a command on that key, or assigned the power on function, you will have to clear the key first before it will accept a macro.

Got a 3100 today! On page 19 if you have a Sony TV do the following: On an unused component button(VCR 2, DVD 2,MD, whatever)do this
com/off/muting
preset
VCR 2
enter in code 4106
enter
exit out of programing.

now on th4e "MD" page (relable it to say "discrete")
0=tv tuner
1=video 1
2=video 2
ect. thru video 6
7=hd1
8=hd2
9=hd3.

Also the touchscreen has square lables that has all the reciever inputs, this is for AV 1
AV 2 is acccessable by the following:
sfield=video1
genere=video 2
mode=video 3
center - =TV
center+ =MD
rear- =CD
rear + =tape
sub= phono
d.input=tuner
you can relable them to say what they are.

Now in your macro just go to to MD(discrete) page enter "6" and it will turn you TV to video 6.

On my sony 57 the "0 button for "tv tuner" and video 7 (dvi) did not work. Dont have 8 and 9. 1-6 worked great.

Interesting, none of the AV2 input codes did anything on my STR-SL7 (a mini standalone receiver stuck with AV2).
