Can you can change the names of the component labels? For example, I want to change 'MD' or 'TAPE A' to other names. I know you can change labels within each component, but I can't figure out how to change the component labels themselves.

Yes, they can be changed. When in "Compo" label mode, select the device and then HOLD the name of the device at the *top* of the screen for a couple of seconds.

"Compo" is the normal mode you'd enter to change the button labels shown at the bottom of a device's screen.
