My problem is my remote is out of warranty and as my luck would have it the volume down has packed up. It has been intermittant for a little while but now has given up the ghost and this is for all component. As a last ditch resort I attempted to reprogramme one of my devices but no change.
Suggestions would be gratefully received

Regards

Stevene

You can make any button on the remote the volume down button by learning from the original remote, either the tv or receiver depending on your setup. As a suggestion, the up and down arrows, around the ok button, could be used.

How do I go about doing this in a manageable way? Considering that my TV, amp and satelite are controlled from the same buttons.
I am having difficulty programming the buttons you mentioned as they are configured to do another function (albeit a less frequently used feature).
Finally, I take it repair is out of the question?

Just pick out any button that is either unused or is not used enough, and make it your volume down button. You would have to learn the command on each of the screens that it is needed on, but it is a lot cheaper and easier to learn one command on a few buttons than go to the expense of repair, which is usually considerable.

The button just below the volume button is the muting button, and you could use this as your new volume down button. You could then move the muting function to the recall button because that is probably a little used button on everything but the tv screen, or you could use the exit button, which I have found doesn't do very much. The possibilities are endless.

This is a simple operation which doesn't need to be complicated, so pick a key, learn a few commands, and your problem is solved.

Will I have to completely reprogramme from scratch or is it possible to make the changes with the current setup? As it would appear that when I go to the learn option I am not presented with the TV settings for a possible change.

cheers

Commander off/tv (or whatever device you want)
If the button you want hasn't learned a command, it will flash
press the button-it will stay on
press button on original remote until 3000 beeps
Finished

If the button has learned a command:
Commander off/tv
Press and hold DEL/press the button once and it will flash
press button on original remote until 3000 beeps
Finished

Although you have had your 3000 long enough and are not a newcomer, I will put this in anyway:

Thank you so much for your help. I have taken your advice and reprogrammed the 'mute' button for volume down for all my components. Its a bit of a git that the volume down has failed but this fix will do me until I can afford to replace it.
Thanks again

I just bought a RM-AV3000. But the problem is that the volume control buttons are really out of control!! They rise my speakers’ volume up or down automatically and would never stop until it reaches the softest or loudest. I have to take the battery out after that happens in order to use the remote control again but when I put the battery back in everything I have set up are gone.

My speakers system is Phillips Home Theater.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks,

Sounding
