Hard to believe, but the guy at Sony told you right. Sony used a different code set, so there is no code and you have to learn everything from the original remote.

One exception is you can use a OneForAll 6131 remote with Code 1658 for Dream systems.

Ron...thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I do have the remote for the HT system and am using that along with the remote to the Motorola cable box.I have a Sony 32" flat screen and the Sony DAVSB100 HT. The important things I need are (1) Power on to all 3 components. (2) Ability to switch to DVD,XBOX and TV{the DVD is part of the HT system} and (3)channel review(page up/page down, info etc.)from the cable remote. Any suggestions?

My main suggestion is to get organized. You have been asking the same question in different ways in different threads in different forums.

Anthony already told you that most any remote will work. Actually, you would need a learning remote because of the HT, but most any learning remote should work.

In this thread, you never mentioned you are looking for a universal remote, but I figured that's what you meant because of your other threads.

Do you have any preferences or dollar limits? I have already recommend the OFA6131. Can you get that in Canada? If not, look around and make some choices, and maybe we can tell you if they will work. Remember, if you dont get the 6131, you will need sufficient learning capability to learn your HT, plus whatever other commands may be needed for other components Or, buy one from a place that has a good return policy, and try it out.

Another suggestion would be the Sony RM-VL900, which has lots of learning capacity.
