I bought the Sony RM-VL1000, that *says* it controls Sony products, as I have an SLV-D300P dvd/vcr combo (plus cable box and Panasonic HDTV). Silly me, since it didn't work and their tech support confirms the combo unit can't be controlled by their universal remotes. I've since read postings on this site, which also say it doesn't work, but rec'd "learning" functions from the individual remotes, which I couldn't make work.

So, is there really a way to use one remote to control all 3? I may need details, if so... Thanks.

This always comes up with combo units because there are no codes for them in Sony remotes and everything has to be learned.

The commands can be learned from the original remotes, so you need to try again. There is no reason why your 1000 should not accdept the commands from the original remote.
