I have a RDR-VX500 DVD/VCR combo (I lost the remote) . try numerus code and remote...None the of the preset codes work and I don't have the RMT-V505 remote to do the "learn" thing. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

This may complicate your quest for a universal remote to replace your lost remote. You could try one of the late model OneForAll remotes and see if anything works. You didn't give a location, which would have been extremely helpful in giving you more information.

The OFA urc-8820 lists 3 codes for sony dvdr's, in addition to 10 grouped under dvd players.

I will post a pcf containing most of the functions of the remote (sorry, no numeric).

In the MX-700 or MX-850 IR database, use "Sony 4" DVD code set #145. It includes almost everything, even the discrete "DVD" and discrete "VCR" codes for this combo unit. The POWER command also works, but there is no discrete "P-ON" or "P-OFF". I programmed a remote myself tonight for a client with this same model and it works. Just wish I could find a discrete P-ON. The usual trick of "PLAY" does NOT work on this unit.

I am a newbie. I have a RDR VX500. I also have the "Sling Box" device which will allow me to transmit the playing DVD over the internet to my laptop whereever I happen to be. The sling box setup requires I insert the remote control code to control the RDR. Since it is so new the RDR codes are included and tech support does not have them at Sling box. The usual Sony codes all seem to be in the format of Yxxxx , where the x is a numeric digit.

Can someone provide me the code in that type format?
