I have a Philips receiver which requires you to press and hold source buttons for about one second to power on the receiver or change sources. Pressing and holding does work when using the AV2500, but is there a way to program the remote to send a one second signal rather than an instantaneous one in a series of commands (macro)? Any help on this would be appreciated as the macros are nice, except for not being able to power on the core of my home theatre (the receiver).

I have posted several times that is not possible to do what you want-making the button send a one second long signal in a macro.

But then, there is this thread. I don't know if it really works or not, but you can check it out. The poster was using a 3100, which may or may not make a difference.
