I'm trying to programme my Sony VL1000T remote with a "Watch DVD" macro that automatically switches my Toshiba Plasma (42WP56E) to the Component Input Source.

Problem is that there does not appear to be a button on the Plasma remote that switches the TV immediately to the Component Input Source. Instead, the 'Source' button on the remote cycles through the various input sources and if held down, would bring up a menu for me to select the input source, again by scrolling up and down.

Without a button that brings me directly to the Component input source on the Plasma remote, I can't get my VL1000T to learn this function, which means that my macro will not set the Plasma TV automatically to the mode needed to watch my DVDs.

Would appreciate advice from any ingenious soul to get round this problem. Thanks in advance.

I don't really know how your plasma tv works, so this is a general answer to your problem.

If your TV will return to the tv input by pressing any channel button, or the channel + or - button, you can use one of these as the first entry in the macro to always get you to a common starting point. Then, you would have to enter the appropriate number of commands (don't know what they call the button on the Toshiba) to get you to the component input source.

It's not elegant, and probably adds a bunch of commands to the macro, but it should work. The V1000T should have enough room in the macro to accomodate all the commands you would need to make a watch DVD macro.
