I purchased the RM-AV3100 a few months ago and got it to prog/learn all my remotes.

We've done some remodelling in the condo and now my wife wants to put the receiver and other components out of sight. I've read about range extenders for other remotes which basically allow people to put away their A/V components in a closet.

Is there something that exists for Sony RM-AV3100?

Thanks in advance

Range extenders only allow you to use the remote a little farther away, but will not go through walls or doors since they are still infra-red. You will not be able to do this with the 3100. At least I don't think you can, but if anyone knows of a converter that will work with the 3100 the information would be welcome.

You could use a universal infra-red remote with radio frequency capability, like the OneForAll URC-9910, which sends IR commands to an RF transmitter which sends them to an RF receiver which converts them back to IR.

What you need is a remote extend kit. Xantech, Niles, Speakercraft. It is hard wired (cat 5) from the equip lacation, another room, behind doors, to the TV location where a reciever is located, various kinds are available. You can run 8 components from a standard connecting block. Very easy yo hook up $150 or so.
Any IR remote will work, including the 3100.

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!
