I have an AV3000 for over 2 years.
I encountered the same problems a lot guys before me encountered - the coating on the buttons has worn and i have to press really hard for it to function.
I've bought a "Leitsilber L100 conducting silver", cleaned the buttom of the problematic buttons and applied the liquid. I've waited a whole night for it to dry.
The whole thing worked for a week or so until the substance started to crumble and i got back to suare one. I think its because the substance is used to repair damaged electronic circles and not meant to withstand rubbing. Have i done anything wrong?
I've seen a keypad repair kit: [Link: replacementremotes.com]
Did anyone use it? Is it different from the stuff i used?
I read several guys recommended Loctite Rear Window Defogger repair kit. How much time does it last? Is this the same matearial i used?
A new RC costs something like 75$ nowdays. How much does a new membrane cost and will it last long?
Is this only Sony's problem?

A new membrane will cost you more than $75.00.

Here's a great thread that tells you how to take apart and clean the membrane. I haven't heard anything about how long the Loctite kit lasts, but it should be long enough to make it worth the trouble. I don't think it is the same as what you used.

I've found a thread here with pictures and acted as instruced. It works for now and i hope for the best.
On you profile you mentioned OFA Cinema 7/Producer 8 and stated that it can expand my remote capabilities. How can it be useful to for my AV3000?

You can click here to learn about advanced/discrete codes and which RS/OFA remote to use.

It's kind of long but will give you a lot of good information. Either the OFA 6820 or 8820 will be a good remote to get you started.

Followed the link here and simply CLEANED my 4-5 year old RM-AV3000. Took about 30 minutes from start to finish and now works just like new. THANKS, Ron!

My OK hard button has not been responsive. I decided I wanted to look at the solutions listed here at remote central. I found this thread, and the link to the agroquest forum thread.

In my searching I found this thread that might be a help for future searches.
