First I would like to say hello to everyone. I'm a new member and this is my first post. Thanks for a terrific site. It has helped me pick a remote that I am very satisfied with except for one issue. If I don't phrase my question correctly please let me know. I have a Sony RM-VL600 remote, Samsung LN46A550 tv, Samsung HT-Z310 home theater, and (Comcast) Scientific Atlanta 8300HD cable box/DVR. What I am trying to do with the remote is a micro macro on the power button, to turn all the equipment on/off. I know I can set up a macro on the system/componant buttons to do this, but I would like to do it on the power button. I am able to get the power for the tv/home theater on the micro, but not the cable/dvr. No matter what the order. I am still experimenting however. Has anyone else tried this or know a different way to do this? I have read somewhere on this forum about different frequencies that manufacturers use. Particuarlly scientific atlanta. If a person is trying to do a micro macro does it matter if the source remotes are different frequencies? Thanks for any help.

So I did some more testing. If I try to teach the cable box/tv (8300HD & LN46A550) power buttons to the RM-VL600 power button as a micro macro, it will work. If I try to teach the home theater/tv (HT-Z310 & LN46A550) power buttons to the RM-VL600 power button as a micro macro, it will work. However, I still can't get it to learn the cable box/tv/home theater power buttons to the RM-VL600 power button as a micro macro. Still trying different techniques.

I've come to the conclusions that the home theater and cable box do not play well together. There appears to be no way to a micro macro with theese two componants. So if anyone else is trying good luck and let me know if you have any success.

It could be a frequency issue - if I recall correctly the SA boxes are around 56kHz, while most remotes are around 40kHz.

However, with that said, your biggest problems are likely 1) the sequence you're sending is too long, or 2) there is too much of a gap between some of your commands.

Try speeding the whole thing up - don't press the buttons long, and try to leave NO space between each command. If you're doing this with 3 power buttons, you're likely going to need fingers ready on all 3 buttons before you begin recording.

The last time I did one of these, it took a lot of tries to get it just right - and sometimes even when I did I didn't press the buttons long enough, so the device didn't always respond reliably.

Can you tell me the code that worked for your Rm-vl600 on the ht-z310 samsung home theater? Thanks.
