Anyone know if there is a way to get my old trusty remote to operate this DTV Hughes Receiver? I have the original remote but my VL900 doesnt see to want to take any of the commands such as Ch +/-
And what about the DVR? I tried programming the Play, Rew, FF buttons on the sat component. I take it they arent made to be used in SAT mode. So I thought I would try and learn them in VCR mode and nothing.
Am I just doing something wrong or does Sony not like Hughes?

Many have had trouble learning FF command, see this thread, but the other keys shouldn't be a problem. Have fresh batteries in both remotes, then keep trying.

I wonder if I don't have this remote in cable mode instead of satellite mode.
I thought the remote was satellite by default.
Something is up because it won't learn anything under satellite. I have the original sat remote and the harmony 880 remote and nothing doing.
1. I'm assuming there is no code for a hughes satellite on the vl-900?
2. How can I tell which mode I am in? Sat/Cable?
3. Are there any VL model remotes that have the code for a sat dvr where I dont have to "learn" all the commands I want to perform?

It doesn't matter what mode the vl900 is set to, since there isn't a code preset, CAB or SAT. When teaching you can learn to any device no matter what.

I have had no problems operating my HR10-250 with Vl900. It has learned every single command from the original HR10-250 remote.
