I have a question about using System macros within a Component Macro.

I can get System macros 1, 2 and 3 to work fine from within a Component macro. However, I can't access System macros 4-15 while programming a Component macro; pressing the More key doesn't cause the System 4-15 soft buttons to display.

Can anyone point to the solution to this problem? Or is it only possible to include System macros 1-3 within a Component macro?

I don't really know what you mean by including System 1-2-3 macros in a component macro, because to the best of my knowledge and experience you cannot include any system macro within another system macro. When you press Commander off/muting, and then select the component key you want to make the system macro on (page 38 0f the manual), if you press any of the system 1-2-3 keys, nothing happens.

If you could explain the exact steps you take to do what you said, I might understand it better.

Here's a partial quote from the RM-AV3000 review Programming 1 section regarding the recording of System macros within a Component macro:
QUOTE
Macro Programming
[Commander Off] + [System Control] or [More]
...................................................
To record a System Control macro as a step in a Component Select macro, press the System Control button during recording. Note that System Control macros cannot reference Component Select macros or other System Control macros.
...................................................
UNQUOTE
I can record System macros 1-3 as a step in a Component macro, but can't use the More button to display System 4-15. Thus, there doesn't seem to be any way to record macros stored in System 4-15.

Make sense now?

If you set up macros on the sys 4-15, just use the same commands in whatever macro you are setting up.
I'm guessing that you are just trying to quicken up your macro by using the sys buttons.
FYI you can do that with the 4000, but it is still a piece of junk, dont buy one.

why have a nice system if you cant operate it, program the remote the right way the FIRST time!

Yup, makes sense now. When I tested my 3000 with what you told me you were doing, I didn't realize I didn't have any macros on my System Control 1-3 buttons, so of course they didn't work. After I assigned macros to them, I could teach them to a Component Select button. It is always good to learn something new.

But you are correct in saying that you can't use the System 4-15 buttons, because pressing the More button when making a component button macro just doesn't do anything.

Ron, thanks for the confirmation. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking a way to make this work.
