I have owned my 3000 for a while and have had no problem, but today I upgraded my DE475 to a DE698, and my remote commander will not do anything with it. I plugged my DE475 back in just to check it, and it works it fine. I also reset to factory settings and tried both 4001 and 4002 codes. Also, the remote that came with the 698 works it fine. What gives?

The year after your last model came out they changed codesets, and sony still hasn't added the new code to any of their universal remotes. see if your receiver can be switched to the old codeset, see this thread.

Oh ok, I will try that. I saw this thread when I did a search, but didn't think it pertained to my problem, guess I should have read it closer. :P
