I just found this website and really enjoy reading everyone's responses. I've got a RM-AV3000 and like real well, but was frustrated with it because you cannot name the touchscreen buttons what you want...you must choose from the four options available with the remote.

Yesterday, I saw this new 4000 remote upgrade (with the PC programming capability). Everything I've read leads me to believe that the 4000 will accomplish what I'm looking for without spending an arm and a leg for the color screen Sony RM-NX 7000 or the Universal Remote MX 3000.

I've been salivating at the color remotes. Does anyone know of a color remote that doesn't cost upwards of $500 to $1000? Plus, is the Sony 4000 worth the money?

the only one is the Harmony 880 form Logitech

there was also a guy that found a Pronto Pro TSU-6000 but that model was replaced around two years ago by the TSU-7000

It should be noted that the RM-AX4000 has the same type of screen as the 3000.

Daniel,

Just to elaborate a bit more on your comment...

I just purchased the RM-AX4000 to replace my RM-AV3000. It is the same type of screen, but with a few noticable improvements:
- about 20% more screen area
- improved backlighting and contrast
- larger text due to increased screen area
- 16 component buttons vs. 15. They went to a 4x4 screen layout where the 3000 had a 3x5 screen layout.

However, it is not color. It is black text on a blue background. Some vendors on the internet advertise this as a 16 bit high color device, but these are the pc requirements to run the remote control software, not the lcd display of the remote.
