I have bought open box AKAI TV(PT4298HD) which does not have remote. I also bought SONY RM-VL1000 universal remote.

The code number for AKAI TV(8003) given in the code sheet with universal remote does not work. Neither any Samsung codes(AKAI's are made by Samsung) work. I even tried the code search. None of the codes work for my AKAI TV. Does anybody have any help to offer? If I cannot get SONY to work with my AKAI, I am planning to buy Harmony 659. Did anybody use Harmony 659 with AKAI TV?

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

yo check this Ramana Bannana!

Go to preset (TV) and press channel + and the power button, do this over and over on that super cool new remote. You should see the numbers for components changing as you do this over and over again. It will fool with your power when you got the right number. I mean it will turn off that Akai. This is when you press ENT and that's that friend! It will find a number that works with that badass set up you probably got at Costco. I know this because I gots mine there too and had the same problems. This worked on my Akai 42" and also with my Samsung DTR. So peep this son- call 1-800-822-2217 and hang in there with the BS until you speak to a rep, that is still if you are having problems with the search step I went over above. It is too easy to stress and will work with your new amp your going to buy. I'm wicked stoked on my new set up and you will be too. Thanks Sony!
Glad I could kick some smarts.
Later,
the mutineer
