Hello friends, What a great site. Most of you are very sharp with your A/V knowledge and skills .Being a Sony fan for many years I was excited about my new DVD Recorder.Hooked it up and it worked great. But my old Sony FM-V401 Remote would not work the new DVD. I had become spoiled because previously it had worked my old DVD plus my TV, CD and VCR , All Sony.I bought a Sony RM-AV3100 and it works well except the DVD,So now my question. Can I enter a secret code or do I have to "learn it " 100% ? This is my 1st post but I have spent some time looking thru the various subjects for my answer. Can someone help me out ? Thanks in advance. John L

Learn it. It's NOT hard.

It looks like that's what I'll end up doing.I had to do that with the receiver,It would have been nice to have had another choice. Does anyone know if the RDR-GX7 has a screensaver as the old Sony did. The manual says nothing. Thanks

I'd imagine so... every Sony DVD player I've had going back to 1998 has had a screensaver of some sort.

Usually they're automatic... what happens if you just leave the DVD player on and paused for 20 minutes?
