Does anyone have experience with using a universal remote with a Sony DHCFL5D (or similar) HiFi system. This system is supplied with a DIGIPAD remote which is called "universal" but only seems to do Sony TV's. When I got the system, i tried to use the universal remote i had, but even though it seemed to learn the functions from the DIGIPAD it would not control the HiFi. As my old universal remote did not work with the Sony DHCFL5D HiFi I got myself a Sony RM-VL900. This remote seemed to have the features I required but was still fairly simple and well priced. But guess what it does not work either. None of the provided Sony codes work and the RM-VL900 seems to learn the commands from the DIGIPAD but then it does not control the Hi-Fi. What the hell is this DIGIPAD? Does it work by magic? Does the DIGIPAD use a different frequency range? Please help. I either need some way to make the RM-VL900 work or some suggestions on what universal remote WILL work.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks LingGit

Hmm. Unfortunently, I'm not familiar with the Digipad system... from what I can tell, it seems to be some strange combination of touchscreen/touchpad and remote (the manual describes "sliding" in various directions and drawing equalizer lines). However, it also seems to mention "standard" controls, which would OUTWARDLY seem learnable, but I don't know what sort of IR system the remote uses.
Maybe it's a continuation of the VisionTouch system (not a good thing).

Hi Lingit,
It looks like I am in the same boat as you. I just bought a Sony AV3000 yesterday and I cannot seem to get it work with my Sony DHC-FL3 (also with this "Digipad" control. I bought the remote as it says that it comes pre-programmed to work on all Sony. I'm from Australia and was wondering if it is an Aussie thing.
Not Happy!!
