I have a new direct tv samsung receiver, but I don't have a hard code for my remote. Is there a code that I can put it. I've already had it learn most of the commands, but my hard buttons for channel up and channel down don't work. Anybody know how I can fix this?

I was brought up in Flatbush, but I still would be thrilled if you would tell us what remote you have. It would also be nice to know the moodel of your receiver.

If it is a RM-AV3000, or most other Sony, there are no codes for Samsung so you have to learn everything.

You should be able to learn the channel change buttons if you could learn the others. If you still have a problem, give specifics on how you are doing this.

I'm sorry, I have a sony RM-AV3000 which I love. My direct receiver is a samsung sir-s-300w, and I need to know how to get my hard button channel up and down buttons to work.

Have you tried teaching to the hard buttons? Is it possible you already learned something on them; if so, delete any learned commands and try again.

How do you teach the hard buttons?

Aha. I thought that was your problem.

Hard buttons work just like lcd buttons, and you can teach every one except More, Other, Timer, Light, and of course Commander Off. The procedure for them is the same as the lcd buttons.

Commander off/muting
Press the component you want to use (tv, etc)
Press the button. The button's name will appear in the lower right corner of the screen.
Teach it.
Exit

Will that work for the gray channel up and down button on the remote? Not the screen or the fake glow in the dark buttons right below the screen.

I didn't include the glow in the dark buttons in my reply because you can teach to them also.

Why don't you just press the button in learn mode and see if it does what I described in my previous reply?

Do you need a manual? If so, go here [Link: remotecentral.com]

Thanks, I got it all programmed. It was easy and works like a charm.
