Apparently Sony has not debugged the locking up problem that exists with the 3000. I tried to delete the pre-programming of the Video 2, 3 and 4 labels on the TV component and the remote locked up on me on all three. I had to remove the batteries. Fortunately, I did wait the 20 seconds and did not lose any programming.

I am trying to program a system macro to do the following:

Turn my Sony TV on and switch it to Video 4 setting
Turn my Sony Amp on and switch is to Video 2
Turn my Sony DVD Recorder on

For some reason I am having difficulty in getting the macro to switch the TV to Video 4. I have tried just about every combination I could think of as far as the macro string is concerned. This is why I tried to re-teach the Video label under TV my Video 4 setting. I got it to work for the Video 1 label but the macro does not execute the command for some reason.

Does anyone have any suggestions? If so, it would be greatly appreciated.

What is the model number of the TV? There is one 27" tv which will not accept video 4, so I am asking on the off chance.

Does the video 4 button work on your tv when entered directly from the tv screen?

I don't have the model number handy. It is a 32" Sony WEGA. The TV will switch to Video 4 manually via the Input button. I got the 3100 to accept the video 4 code from the TV remote but the system macro string (for some reason) will not activate the learned video 4.

If it works directly, it should work in the macro. Until I get a 3100 I can't test anything so
I can't say for sure. In the meantime, if video 3 works, then you can make a macro with video 3 and one tv input, which will get you to video 4.

Have you cleared the system control buttons? AVOID SYSTEM CONTROL PROBLEMS

The TV remote has discrete inputs on it? Odd, never seen a Sony OEM remote with that.

Also, don't forget that the RM-AV3100 has a special code number containing Sony TV input codes.

Daniel is right, of course, and I had better read these more carefully. I think your confusion spawned my confusion.

Did you load tv code 8001 into your AV3100? You should then have video 1-4 on the 4 rectangular labels at the bottom of the tv screen, and each one should work for your tv, and also in the macro.

I also have a 32" WEGA and have had this remote for 2yrs now. The vid 4 button does not work. Vid 1-3 descrete butons work fine but vid 4 does not i have tried all the preset numbers for sony tv's and no luck. You have to go to vid 3 then press the inpput button once to cycle to vid 4. This works ok for me as vid 3 is my VCR/Cable and vid 4 is my DVD. So one buttton press gets me from Cable to DVD and one button gets me back. This is my most common switch.

If you figure out how to get vid 4 to work directly please let me know.

1. What is the exact model number of your tv, and how old is it?

2. Do you have another learning remote?

Ron,

Looks like i didn't know what TV i had, I'm looking at the receipt and i have a 27" WEGA model# KV27FS13 pruchased 8/2001.

I don't have another learning remote but I think i can teach my palm pilot IR commands with a program i have. What did you have in mind?

For the record i do have the remote set with code 8001 and i have the 4 video butons at the bottom.

there isn't anything you can do, that model will not accept discrete codes for inputs above video 3. Blame sony.

Thanks edmund. At least i know what's up now. I was thinking of trying a micro macro for that (input 3 then input cycle once) but i can't seem to get it to learn more than one command. Are there any tricks to this?

As edmund said, the model you have is the only one we know of that won't accept video 4. I suspected you had that model, but I wanted to be sure before I said anything about this lapse in Sony programming.

If you had another learning remote, or if your palm pilot will learn from the 3100, you can teach the video 3 key and the tv/input key to it, and then teach it back to the 3100 as a micro-macro.

Micro-macro is easy to do. Just hold the learning remote opposite the 3100, and quickly press the learned video 3 key and the tv/input key. Two keys are easy, and up to about 4 can be done in this manner, but you have to be fast. The 3100 has a long learning cycle, so 2 commands should not be a problem. Just press one after the other. You can teach this to the video 4 key, and you won’t even have to relabel it.

Maas: I would be interested to know exactly what you were doing to get the remote to lock... couldn't duplicate your experience.

I had the same problem with my 3100 locking up. I was trying to delete video2 while in the TV mode of the remote and it froze when i pressed and held the delete button while pressing video2. I tried this numerous times and had to take the batteries out each time. I didnt have any problem deleting video1.

I also have a problem with the system control buttons. I deleted the factory settings as stated in the manual. I wanted to set the system control 1 button to turn my TV, AMP, STB and CABLE on with the press of one button. To turn my TV on i have to press the AV button twice to get it to AV2. In systems control 1 i do each setting one after the other as it says eg....TV-Power, AMP-power etc...but it wont accept TV-video1. So after i program everthing and press system control 1 to turn everything on, everthingthing comes on as it should except the TV hasnt switched to AV2. Can anyone help ?????
