Greetings,
My Samsung HTIB doesn't have separate "Scan forward" and "Scan backward" controls. Instead, you hold down the "Next Chapter"/"Prev Chapter" buttons for a second to activate the scan functions.
I have been unable to get my Sony AV3000 to do this properly. I would greatly appreciate advice on making it work.
Thanks very much, Keith Burton

It sounds like there is a built-in delay in the Samsung remote, sort of like the "shift" function with a delay, but eventually it sends an IR signal to the HTIB.
When teaching to the 3000, try holding the Next/Prev Chapter buttons down until the 3000 beeps, then it should have learned the same command the Samsung remote eventually sends to the HTIB.
Just a guess, but it may work.

A lot of devices operate that way... as Ron says, just make sure you're learning the codes by holding the button until the RM-AV3000 beeps.
When the device sees a "brief" version of the code, it advances chapters. When it sees a "continuous" version, it scans.
