I just got this unit, and was able to set up all my components, except the Bell Express Vu unit. The information in the remote list the above as being the brand Echo Star (and the code 3010) "as of 1998". Well, it is now 2004 and SONY has not updated this info. The actual brand in the unit - and its remote - is Next Level Communication (model SRC-200). Can anybody help on this matter? Many thanks in advance. JCT.

So did you try the ExpressVu code? If it doesn't work, just learn the codes off the original remote.

Thanks for your reply, but still, I am lost. The problem is, the code that the manual gives me for Bell Express Vu is incorrect, and it does not work. Don't I have to set up first the correct device, in order to be able to "teach" the remote the other commands?

As long as the AV3000 is in Satellite/DSS mode, then that's all you need. And even then, all that does is make sure the labels are set to appropriate DSS values... they can always be changed just before learning.

Daniel:

Thanks once again for your response. I am no expert on this matters, but I was able to "teach" the remote all the commands for my "no name" (actually, the brand is SOKE) Free Region DVD player (my main one is a SONY), so I know how to teach commands now. But for the STB, all I can get the remote to learn is to power on (which means, to power on the TV). Is this because the SONY remote uses Infra-Red technology and the cable box uses Radio Frequency? If so, does this means I will not be able to use it for my cable box?

There *should* be an IR mode though.
