I purchased a Sony TA-E9000ES Control Amplifier and a Sony DVP-C650D CD/DVD Player a few years back. I specifically purchased the same brand in the hopes that the remotes would work with each other unit.
Page 63 of the manual for the DVD player mentions the ability to control the "volume of the AV receiver (amplifier) using the AV VOL". No such luck. The "AV VOL" buttons on the RMT-D112A (the DVD remote) do not control the volume on the Sony E9000ES Processor. I have tried every code possible. No luck.
Now I do have a Sony RM-AV2000 remote that I purchased to overcome the problems with the origanal TP501E that came with the E9000ES. But it would be nice to have volume control and joy stick control of the DVD player on one remote.
Has anyone seen this problem before. I did not find any reference to the DVD remote (RMT-D112A) in a search on this site.
I know one solution would be to use an Ocelot to do an IR code translation. But that would cost $$$$, which I have to watch rather closely right now.
Thanks in advance.

The 9000 pre amp uses a differt IR freqency than othe sony recievers. (it is NOT av1 or av2) You wont be able to control the volume with your DVD remote. cb1

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will have to go with Ocelot approach then. Jay ==============

How about simply buying a different type of universal remote? For the same price as the Ocelot you could get a *real* universal remote, even with a joystick...

I believe remotes like the RM-AV2500, RM-AV3100, MX-500, URC-200 and Harmony H659 can all be found in the same price range.
