lost most control of my fingers so pleaqe bear with me, it hurts like hell 2 type.

Hi,
I'm an ex nasa engineer now terminal & bedridden..
but i still love electronics so i have various electronic stuff around my bed and with 2 tower computers, a laptop, 32" tv, receiver, cameras, ipod, palm pilot, a/v switcher, dvds and 17 speaskers plus remote controlled hospital bed i have many manyremote controls so i'm trying 2 do away with a few..
i bought the sony RM-AV3000 and am attempting to set it up but i'm having problems, some due 2 the fact that i have hand damage so i have 2 wait till i have feeling in my fingers (and not much pain) before pressing any buttons..
i just got a yamaha htr-5650 receiver - over kill really for my bedroom but i wanted the digital inputs, 5.1, neo:6 , etc...
anyway.. the sony unit i tried the code 4030, and i swear i think it worke at first or me - but i'm not 100% sure because i take liquid pill morphine, smoke pot medically (2 keep my spasms down) and other various drugs so i'm not as certain as i would usually be.
but i do know i can no longer turn the yamaha on or off. so i tried settin this part up thru the learning portion of the remote. the remote beeped but still no on/off.
now thi reciver\uses one button fo on and another button to go into standby so i tried setting up 2 bttons still nothing!! i can not turn this htr-5650 on or off.. what gives here..
heres a list of itmes i'm trying 2 control - of course being this is the first day i've hand this remote it will take some time, any suggestions or recommendations i'd certainly appreciate.. i'm also thinking of getting the Home Theater Master MX-500 too.

I can only answer your Yamaha receiver problem now. Did you try the other 3 codes for receiver or the 4014 code for hifi component systems, or did the 4030 just work the best? Does it give you control of other functions, but not the on or standby?

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to learn any commands from the original remote, including the on and standby.

Try clearing the component screen for your amp and then try to learn again
Commander off/muting
Set
Reset
Compo
Component button or label key
Yes

Hope this helps, and you are feeling better.

yep, i tried the other codes,4030 was te only one thst at least controlled a few items. so i went back figuring i could add the other codes myself but i can not get this sony remote 2 turn the receiver off and i know it did before (maybe signal timing changed-dunno)damn i hate being so ill seems lik everything i tr 2 do takes forever when before i could do a zillion things at once(sorry 4 the whine)..
i cant figure out why i cant turn this thing off..
i'm going back thru your instructionhs maybe i screwed somehing up.

just gave he remote 2 my wife 2 send back.. guess i will try the Home Theater Master MX-500 nex. i see it has x-10 conrol so mayb i will be better at conrolling my other stuff.
i dont have the luxury of playing with tthis uni for a while. back it goes. to big, doesnt conrol my amp, bed, x-10 suff guess thats enough.
i just hate giving anything i buy elecronics back, i usually hoard the s..t outta stuff. i buy flash usb drives just to look at and hold onto. God why am i such an electronics nut! a whole repair room of stuff i just look at and touch.

Just wondering if you tried hooking up your Yamaha to an X-10 appliance module... that way you can use the X-10 part of Sony (I have mine linked to "Other-> Lighting") to control power on/off, and the AMP part to control the rest of the functions.

Also having trouble getting my Sony 3000 to communicate to my Yamaha receiver. Anybody figure something out? Also, when I try the "preset" codes (for "AMP"), most of the on-screen buttons disappear! what's up with that?

thanks,
