Have added Smarthome's 4040 (IR543) to my existing Radio Shack Plug and Power light control for use with the AV3000. Switched "LIGHTING" to device code 2005 and almost everything works perfectly. Individual lights/appliances respond as expected. Dimming is slow but I found that answer in another thread. Label key "ALLON" turns everything on but "ALLOFF" only turns off device codes 1 through 4. The "All Units Off" button on the 4040 and the "All Off" button on my Radio Shack Timer controller work on all 8 devices every time.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Defective 4040?

So you are saying thast the smarthomes remote and the radio shack remote works the all off command? This sounds to simple so forgive me if you have already tried it. Learn the all off command to the 3000.
If the 4040 turns off the lights , then I wouldnt think it would be faulty. Try long bursts and short burst (usually long)

The only remote involved is the AV3000 and it's pre-defined All Off label. The RS and Smarthome devices both send signals directly thru their respective power cords. The RS timer/controller has no remote capability. It is just a clock and hard button controller. I thought that it might be possible that the 4040 is not converting the AV3000's IR signal for alloff correctly even though it handles everything else from the AV3000 ok.

Have you tried Volume Up for On and Volume Down for Off? My knowledge of X10 is very limited but I think I read somewhere that this works.

Ron,

I tried Vol up and down and they don't seem to do anything. I also read somewhere that "Off" in the upper right corner of the screen where "Power" usually is did an ALLOFF but that doesn't get unit codes 5 thru 8 either. This is really no big deal since everything else works well but I don't want a defective unit. Will contact Smarthome on Monday and see if they have an explaination.

Just some follow up notes that worked in case anyone else has similar problems:

The 3000's X10 commands(Device code 2005)had problems as posted above plus very slow dimming plus irratic Off command. CB1 suggested the obvious which was to learn the commands. I didn't even realize that OFA's 8810 would control X10. The OFA documentation was nonexistent so I tried Ron's Volume +/- (that controls dimming) and found in the OFA Forum that Power is all on and Mute is all off. Lucked out and discovered that Channel + is on and - is off.

Learned all of the above on the 3000 and all commands incuding fast dim/bright work perfectly. The Learn time for dim and bright is much longer than any others that I have seen. I can't hear the beep so I just keep learning until the screen comes back.

Thanks again all.
