I came across your message board while looking for a solution to terrible remote performance on a Sony STR-DE1015G. I understand that the AV2000 will not work without modifications. In the meantime, I am looking to use an IR repeater of some sort to try to help improve the range of the stock remote. Does anyone know at what frequency the 1015 remote operates? I like the features of the receiver, but the performance of the remote is the worst of any product I have ever had.
Thank You

What kinds of problems are you having with the RM-AV2000 and 1015G ?
I have a 1015G and considering the purchase of an AV2000 .. is this not going to work for me? I already had problems with lesser featured sony universal remotes not talking to the 1015G; although sony support said is 'should' work.
thanks!

I have the 1015G, and have not had much luck getting the AV2000 remote to talk to the receiver. All other components seem to function well with it, and after spending a bit of time with it, I'll admit I'm impressed. The lack of compatibility with the 1015g is very frustration however. I'll be following this thread myself for the solution. Where did the notion of a "mod" first come up? Was it presumed or has someone come up with one?

In response to "Re: STR-DE1015G" by Denny Alford on 31/10/98 22:12:08:
I recently purchased the RM-AV2000 but did not read your message until after I had purchased it and found it did not work with the Sony STR-DE1015G. After spending a few hours trying everything I could thibk of (including reading the manual!) I broke down and called Sony. They informed me that the STR-DE1015G uses a "proprietary two way IR control" and that there was NO universal remote, including their own RM-AV2000 that would work with the receiver.
Frustrated beyond belief, I was able to return my Sony STR-DE1015G to the store where I purchased it 3 weeks ago. I consider myself extremely lucky that they were able to do this for me, considering the poor range of the stock remote that comes with the STR-DE1015G. I hated to part with the receiver (bought a new Onkyo with similar functionality that IS compatable with the RM-AV2000)but the whole point was to make the entire setup "family compatable". Not to mention that the RM-AV2000 is a cool remote with excellent range.
