WGRZ just broadcast their first widescreen HD newscast tonight. They beat WIVB and WKBW to the punch. WIVB will probably be next.. .

Sorry. I was not entirely correct in the post above. WGRZ is actually "upconverting" as pointed out in this Buffalo News article.. .

I think they have HD graphics, but nothing else. :-)

Noticed that the other night. The newscast was in widescreen. Until that point it was an HD broadcast with bars on the side saying "WGRZ HD" or something.

I could tell the cameras weren't HD but with the HD overlays and graphics it doesn't look too bad.

WIVB's graphics have never impressed me for clarity, even in SD.

I don't know about you guys, but I at least like that it's now in 16x9 format without their previous sidebars.

Quality wise it's not bad. Things could be a lot worst, ala WKBW.
